I believe this article is referring to Carl Lindner Jr. III a republican from the Cincinnati area. He hosted McBush's fundraiser where I am sure a lot of this area's corrupted republican/businessmen opened their wallets to support the continuation of right-wing fascism in America. Republican greed & ignorance abounds in this area!

To start off, spell the former Chiquita CEOs name correctly as Carl Lindner, Jr., and not the two different misspellings in this article. Lindner is indeed a right-wing millionaire and a typical McCain booster.

I have no problem with slamming John McCain for his hypocrisy on "terrorism." For him there are "bad terrorists" (those who terrorize allies of the USA) and "good terrorists" (those who terrorize opponents of the US government). But let's not put too much weight on the Chiquita story. Ok, Chiquita paid off the "left-wing" FARC when it controlled the banana growing area, and switched its payoffs to the right-wing AUC paramilitaries when they seized control after 1996. (Eventually Chiquita decided to stop owning banana plantations in Colombia at all, and sold them off to Colombians while continuing to source from them.) But Chiquita is not the old United Fruit and now operates more ethically than many other TNCs in Colombia. The fact that Chiquita admitted to and agreed to pay a $25 million fine for its past misconduct is actually a plus point. (It may also show that Lindner no longer runs the company!)

It is important to get the details straight because an error of this type casts doubt on the accuracy of the entire article. Mainstream media does an abysmal job of getting important information to the public, which is why web sources should take their role as journalists seriously.
