"John McCain is aware of the internet."

That's what McCain's Deputy Internet Director Mark Soohoo said Monday at the Personal Democracy Forum in New York City. This was part of a discussion on "what worked and what didn't" in terms of using the internet to run a presidential campaign. And judging by Soohoo's comment—not to mention the chasm between McCain and Obama when it comes to online fundraising and advertising—it's pretty clear what didn't.

Tracy Russo, John Edwards' chief blogger and Deputy Online Communications Director, didn't miss a beat, likening McCain to someone's grandmother trying to learn these newfangled social networking sites and apply them to governing. Russo's point, of course, is that it is crucial for our next president not simply to be "aware" that the internet exists, but to utilize it as a means of mass communication, education, and unification.

I just returned from PDF, which was wonderful for broadening my perspective on the ways in which we can use new technology and media to advance political goals and empower others looking to get involved. More from PDF throughout the day...

The PC and the net in the history of men have made a debut in showing the horrible cartoons of the presidents of the Sate and UK with Germany and France.
Obviously if you look at the Daily Post of UK, the cartoon of butter, the jam with the fly, shows how Brown views the jam more insulting then the fly that moves around the butter.
Alternatively, there is PC phobias. That is dying, there used to be a time when people were afraid to touch the PC. They thought that it would mess up the work. In addition, there were some who thought that PC would get rid of the employees. What has happened is the transition period the people started learning and became clever. They now learn more. McCain has learnt that net teaches some thing.
It can be a lesson or an insult. But that is there anyway if not in net, the TV will come out later like Hitler.
I thank you

To not actively use the internet in 2008, at least 25 years after its use started to spread among the country's population, is tantamount to not using the "horseless carriage" in 1926. Anyone who could afford it had a car!
John McCain is still in a horse and buggy.

In all probability MaCains confused mind is mixing the word "internet" with "internment"

The guy is somewhat senile in his constant ramblings. OK he was a POW but so were thousand of others but they do not keep bleating on about the fact. What the US needs is young blood at the helm be it black or white, colour is not the issue the man is the issue.

In the US as in many countries there are dead unsung heroes and G.W. is daily adding to this total. McCain would only continue this action
