Remember, “nothing stings like being called an elitist by the humble working-class members of the media and politics. Some of those people have to do their own hair.”

STEPHEN,you are so right, it's time to de-leate the elitist!!! My income is under 10,000 a year, yet I dared to run for governor of Missouri, because the ELITIST, don't represent non-elitist!!! The state of Missouri, and the Libertarian party, had me disqualified, and kicked right off of the balot, bacause I'm just a poeple, and not of the special ELITE!!!The other day, the new head of the Libertarian party, and presidental hopeful, Bob Barr, attempted to try to justify, kicking out the true libertarians from the party, by calling us NON-ENTITIES!!! I would guess that, that must mean that he is an ELITE ENTITY!!! "We are the champions, no time for loosers" He don't want NON-ENTITIES, in the L.P., because he don't represent anyone but the ELITE!!! A GOVERNMENT OF THE ELITE, BY THE ELITE, FOR THE ELITE----HITLER WOULD BE PROUD!!!

Elitism

Elitism is a word that's not even 60 years old. It was first used in a 1950-essay by lawyer-gone-sociologist David Riesman to describe a tendency in Freud that he shared with Nietzsche and Thomas Carlyle. By the late '60s, the Nixon Administration and certain southern governors, like George Wallace, amplified the terms pejorative sense to dis-credit Left-leaning politicians and institutions that seemed to support them, like academia.

It is the most bizarre term, because it is used as an insult. What is the offense? Not only holding it against us that we, the common-folk, are not like them, the elite, but the elite themselves being out of touch with and simply not "like us." It at once signifies and demonizes greatness. It's a term of self-hatred, because it just as the elite are demonized for being "better than us," the person using the term admits they are not even worthy of being "elite."
