Nice satire. Takes a page from Limbaugh and ups it a notch.

I did appreciate the "frankenfood" mumbojumbo bit. The knowledge that dems and repubs equally hate the idea of genetic engineering was especially heartwarming.

/sigh

Don't get me wrong. It works as satire. It was just...saddening.

The left/right paradigm is like the racism of old.

Stereotypical, generalizing, and lumping everything into two categories...

...sound familiar?

Just got here via Digg (http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/I_m_Voting_Republican_2) and my ability to view the actual article was completely hindered by a popup shadowbox on the landing page, which only gave me the option of continuing on to the home page! Had to go back and relaunch from Digg. Needless to say, I didn't Digg it myself.

(And to think I applied for a position here. Wouldn't have let that happen long if I were here.)

I'm still figuring out who to vote for

This year I figure I'll vote for whoever I determine is the worst for humanity.

I really want to see people suffering world wide.

I guess McCain is the way to go with his obvious plans to bomb Iran etc.

Was pushed off a cliff decades ago, and their name taken over by a brutal gang of thugs intent on establishing a fascist state. War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

Racial Tokenizing

This post is not by some pro-Republican troll: Don't vote McCain -- pro-war and imperialism, pro-tax cuts for the wealthy, anti-universal health care, pro-privatization of schools, anti-choice, anti-immigration, anti-gay, pro-prison, pro-policies that destroy communities and continue oppression.

But to Charlie Steak (the maker of this video) and those who watch it: it's not okay to tokenize people by race. There are two clips with black people in them, and they both talk about racism -- as if racism is just black people's problem, and as if black people only care about racism. War, tax cuts, health care, education, choice, immigration, queer power, prisons -- all of these are issues that people of color care about. And white people's role in perpetuating racism needs to be named too.

A better video would have had white people voting Republican because they believe that poor people of color are lazy and need to be locked up, and people of color saying they don't need quality education or health care, etc. Otherwise, this video reinforces the idea that racism is not white people's problem, and that people of color think only about racism.

...that anyone running for office would need.

But we all know that the Democraps would not have the rocks to fight like the Repukes.

To me this ad could have been about the Democraps too.

The two party system is irrevocably broken.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOE REPUBLICAN-PART 1

Part 1-home and going to work: Joe gets up at 6 a.m. quietly since his wife doesn’t need to wake up to get to her job for another hour. He fills the coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. After the coffee cools, he takes his daily meds for high blood pressure. His pills are properly labeled because some commie fought a long time ago to get the FDA to monitor drugs, and now other dumb liberals keep struggling in Congress to maintain FDA independence from total takeover from Big Pharm. All but $10 of his meds are paid for by his employer’s health plan because some damned union radicals battled their employers for paid medical insurance. Joe doesn’t turn it down.
