Barack Obama's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination has been marred by the controversy over remarks made by his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. And now that relationship is being used by the Republicans in a strategy Democrats say is racially tinged.

We sent Max Blumenthal, a writer for the progressive magazine, The Nation, to the southern state of Mississippi. He asks if attack ads used in a congressional election there could be a sign of things to come.

Those who are producing and running those ads are showing the Republithugs "values" to be exactly what they ARE, RACIST. They are losing a lot of their loyal voters because most of them are sick and tired of being defined by the extreme right wing racists who call themselves Christian but hide behind religion to break every commandment they profess to believe in. They lie, steal from the country, covet, commit adultery, break the law, and on and on IN THE NAME OF GOD!!!
GWB claims God wanted him to be president, wanted him to invade Iraq, wanted him to use the troops in his criminal political GAME then throw them away when no longer useful, (wounded), wants him to ship the dead ones back on cargo planes, out of sight and buried in secret without honor, wants him to make laws that prevent crooked contractors, murders and rapists, who steal from American citizens and American troops immune from prosecution for whatever crimes they commit.
What BS.
If these people believe in GOD, they better be watching the sky, because the lightning may strike any time.

There is also some talk out there regarding a tape showing Michele Obama speaking in Rev. Wright's church and decrying ""whitey". Supposed to be in the hands of the GOP who will release it in Oct. if he gets the nomination. There is also talk regarding some billionaire GOPrt who hates McCain and does not want to see him in the WH so he is looking to buy the tape(s)and release them sooner to ensure that Obama does not get the nod and Hillary defeats McCain. Have no idea if this is true but it is making the rounds.

Getting much better. Don't rock side to side when you are on camera, it is distracting in contrast to the nice background. Otherwise, looking good.

This is shocking to the typical White racist Mississippian mind. A new age of White inclusion is on the horizon but the racist wont go with out a battle. Reagan started his racist Willie Horton campaign in Mississippi where civil rights workers were killed to give a wink to the Klan minded Sob's that he and the Republiklan party was on their side. Bush visited Mississippi many times to converse with his friend the racist Mississippi Governor, Haley Barbour (R), member of the racist council of conservative citizens gang (CCC). The Republiklan's policies against Blacks has been profoundly negative and devastating. And now they are going to try to demean Obama with a smear campaign for what his wife may have said or not years ago. Decent, Upstanding, Outstanding, Intelligent and Independent thinking White voters that are proud of being White with out having to succumb to the degradation of other races will stand up and say, "NO MORE! YOUR NEOCON MIND CONTROLLING TACTICS AGAINST MY WHITE PEOPLE STOP HERE! AND WE, BLACK, WHITE, LATINO, ASIAN, AMERICAN INDIAN, ETC., WILL PREVAIL OVER YOU. YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope lies with the young. Younger voters are much more tolerant of differences than their elders. Thank the gods!

Wow, that video just sickens me. My heart started doing a triple beat while watching an entire room of American citizens applauding Dick Cheney. Just exactly WHAT are they putting in the kool-aid there?

I'm a white woman who would gladly welcome our first black president into office. I deal with redneck neocons like this in my freaking family tree and know just how stupid and easily led these cretons are. Just mention gays, abortion, immigrants, or gun laws and you secure this populations vote. Say it in church and you have a registered republican for life.

Every time I receive a hate-based or fear-based email, I counter with facts and articles, while appealing in a WWJD perspective to no avail. I'm simply terrified by a Christian faction that lives their faith-based lives supporting evil. I'm so weary of this fight to bring reason to idiots.

I wish these hateful people would find a new place to call their own where they could design their own utopian nation that has no room for the poor or suffering and only whites are welcome as long as they aren't single mothers. Churches and bars line the streets in harmony. Only country music about how great they are is allowed and God loves their nation because they are all straight, gun-toting, Islam killing, Mexican hating warriors of Jesus. Their politicians are all multi-national corporation millionaires who know what's best for the nation. There is no minimum wage or public assistance programs. It's an 'I got mine, too bad you didn't get yours' kind of philosophy. Every man for himself. How gratifying it would be to see their dreams in action. Maybe then they would wake up, but probably not. ~ sigh ~
