These are excerpts from "Silhouette City," a new documentary by Michael Wilson that investigates apocalyptic Christian nationalism. The film tracks the rise of this religious fervor over the last three decades, from fringe Christian survivalist groups of the 1970's to today's mainstream movement. As you can see from this clip, the current leaders of apocalyptic Christian nationalism include Rev. Rod Parsley and Rev. John Hagee, whose endorsement John McCain has actively sought.

According to Wilson:

"I began making "Silhouette City" because, in late 2001, I began to hear echoes of the Christian extremism from my childhood in Arkansas. In order to quiet the ringing in my ears, I immersed myself in the contemporary Christian right – the media, music, ministries, books, personalities and organizational apparatuses.... As the economy continues to slide, the energy crisis becomes palpable and the occupation of Iraq appears indefinite, the potential grows for a major disruption of daily life. A significant percentage of the population sees these looming crises through a specific lens: a belief that humanity is waging the opening skirmishes of a cosmic war between Good and Evil that will usher in the Kingdom of God. Such belief enables an ever-escalating sense of urgency – very real threats to the middle and lower classes (outsourcing, rising fuel and food costs, etc) combine with perceived threats (secularism, homosexuality, ethnic/religious others) to become overwhelming evidence of the tribulations that signal apocalypse."

"Silhouette City" focuses on the motivations behind this growing need to adopt an apocalyptic worldview.

Wow! and we wonder why the rest of the world shakes their head in disbelief at america and its religious fanatics that are in the white house. anybody who thinks they are having personal conversations with god should be on thorazine. communion with god as conciousness awake to itself with out form is infintely peaceful, compassionate and love without object. this personalizing of "god" is a function of mind, and when the individual invests themself in their own petty story , then at some point that story must be defended verbally or worse ,,,,, WAR.

This Frankenstein can only be the unintended consequence of liberals' incessant efforts to push their anything goes morality - where soon even bestiality will be a life-style choice - on an entire nation.

Do liberals really think that everyone will just meekly go along with their Politically Correct agenda?

Soon it will be time to reap what has been sown.

False Prophets and Heresy..

The Rapture is a great Heresy..

It teaches as in many cults that you will escape death..

You will not escape death..

It teaches it's largely less than well educated and or enlightened followers to fear death loath death..

This undermines the great sacrifice Jesus made for us to show us that we can defeat death, but not escape it..

The Rapture this false teaching is and will be key to the destruction of much of the world and lead to the senseless deaths of million many million in the end if not billions 1/3rd of earth population if you believe the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation..as well as 2/3rds of the population of Israel as well..

Now due to this belief and false teaching of the Rapture the pre-Tribulation Rapture to be exact..

There false prophets like Parsley and Hagee, Dobson, Robertson, Falwell while he was still able to wag his lying tongue..et al..

Are not servants of God at all..and yet they dare to claim directly or indirectly to know God's mind and think they can get God to act in their time...not God's chosen time..

This was the great error sin of the Sons of Light who also believed they could act and evoke God's action in their behalf for which they suffered greatly and were all but wiped out..

Save for those few survivors some of whom went back to fishing in Galilee and some others who had supported the Essenes and then the Sons of Light from Jerusalem and nearby so they could exist in the desert..

It tells us in Revelation that in the final days there will be many false prophets..

Well you just saw one..

Ha! Religious twaddle of the highest order from the neocon rightwing loonies. Don't they read their own texts?

"Matthew 18:3-5
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Check out this youtube video of starving kids in Mosul being handed out rations by a U.S. soldier. Certainly good PR for the military, which is why it was videotaped and handed out, but you have to wonder why there are desperately starving kids on the street, when that wasn't the case before the invasion and occupation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s90BQ1oAvmw
Starving kids in Iraq being fed by U.S. soldiers and fighting over the food. Quote: "This is a refugee camp in north Iraq were kids from all ages are living in poverty. This is me and my friends trying to help these kids with what we got."

That's great - but what happens when the soldiers are redeployed elsewhere, and there is no one to show up and hand out goodies? Want to know another word for a refugee camp these days? "Terrorist training camp" or "suicide bomber recruitment area".

This did not happen because some religious nutjob got on the public airwaves, believe me. It's because Wall Street and the other wealthy global investors who own or control Exxon, Chevron, Lockheed, TimeWarner, NewsCorp, Bechtel, Halliburton, Pfizer, Microsoft, Bank of American and Goldman Sachs, etc. (and quite a few charitable non-profit foundations as well) wanted to secure control of the Iraqi oilfields in order to protect their value of the U.S. dollar, as well as to establish supply-side control of global oil markets for the next 20 years or so.

That's the plan. Both the left and the right and centrist corporate "alternative press" in the United States are very reluctant to discuss this, because they worry about losing their foundational funding and support if they do.

Lunatic preachers

are less of a problem than the lunatic audiences that they draw. How can so many pay heed to this crap and still regard themselves as rational human beings? Truth is that they can't. Oh well, George W. Bush made it to the presidency and that's a sure sign that America's going to Hell. Maybe the preachers are predicting the correct result but they are just using the wrong evidence.

Religion is Retardation

God doesn't exist, heaven and hell aren't real places, and your country is going to shit because you elect soulless money changers to power. Gays, liberals (though annoying pussies) are not the cause. Religion when given to white people becomes very harmful because white people think they are in charge of every facet of life. And yes, I am also white.

Religion is fucking stupid, invented to keep the fucking stupid people in line. It is used as a scapegoat for myopic thought, racism, sexism, and every other 'ism' we can make up. If the self righteous in the US would put the same energy into improving the country as they do creating false divisions, in this overweight, overly religious, consumer addict, debtor shit pile. We might have a chance to live in a decent country.

"You and I are living right now this morning in the days of the fulfillment of bible prophecy..."

Aw, c'mon! Christians have been doing that every day for the past two-thousand years. You mean to say that until now these prophecies were irrelevant and could safely be ignored?

The End Already Happened

According to Jebus himself, in his own (supposed) words, he said the following:

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. "Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Matthew 24:29-35 NAB)

Well, it's pretty obvious that that generation passed away and the end didn't happen.

Thus, the conclusion is that either Jebus was a liar or the translation was wrong.

Regardless, not a single human on this planet is capable of making a proper 'prediction' about any so-called End Times. If they could accurately predict that time they would be far, far more insightful than even Screaming Mighty Jebus.

How can a TRUELY faithful follow such dcotrines.
THEY place judgement on Gods Creations,
THEY act as Judge and Jury
THEY Determine Punishment
THEY even demand God do something- threaten
THEY Intend to supercede any Design or Plan
THEY encourage other to place them higher on the Ladder of mankind (Ordained ,Chosen, Sole possessor of divine Knowledge)
THEY demand to be Followed, worshipped & idolized.....
These sound more like acts and ideology which resulted in an Archangel being Cast OUT!Why would the Almighty, the omnipotent one need the assistance of any mere mortal to get whatever is planned Accomplished? Who would need such assistance, who would allow such tactics to be used against the rest of mankind, Who hates man that much.."Could It be Satan?" (Dana Carvey's 'Church Lady' was prophetic)
These are th e'ReligiousExtremeist' which pose the danger to our national 9and international) security. Hagee has HIS plan for how to get 'Armegeddon'Started- pre emptive Stikes on Iran (sound familiar? Bush,Cheney McCain, Hillary).apparently god does not work fast enough for Hagee and HE has Decided this Generation of 'Evangelical' are the Special Group to be 'Raptured'. Frankly this feeds right into the Anointed mentality of the Boomer's- No wonder they don't give a Shit about anyone else or the future- THEY"VE GOT THE PLAN BECAUSE THEY ARE BEETER THAN EVERYONE ELSE (past ,present and future- 'Spoiled Brats' my moms name for boomers, oh she has no idea how spoiled and self centered they are)

He's not preaching revolution, as he claims. He's preaching radical, American-Christian Jihad against everyone who doesn't believe in his fairy tales.

It amazes me that our country focuses on Obama's preacher, while religious nutcases like this fly completely under the radar.

The religious fanatics are SO CONVINCED that the end is near and they are doing God a big favor by bringing it on!

For God so loved the world he destroyed it! Gee, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Human beings are so self destructive they don't need God to destroy the world. They'll do it all by themselves! Now THAT'S an accomplishment!

....... how anyone with more than a 10th grade education and knowledge of the FLAGELLANTS could possibly ever do anything but laugh their asses off when these buffoons start on one of their stupid apocalyptic tirades. After pinching myself awake, I gain a better understanding of the problem: the people who are easily persuaded to buy into this crap are some of the least educated, least enlightened, most credulous fools in this country. They've never even heard of the Flagellants!

All of the statistics so far point to the fact that these fools number somewhere between 75M and 100M people - nearly 1/3 of the population of this country, and growing!

Unless we, the reality huggers of the world, do something immediately to help raise the consciousness of these credulous morons, we too are doomed. So is our planet.

At least control of the Republican party!

It is between fifty and sixty years since I read it [the Apocalypse], and I then considered it merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherences of our own nightly dreams.
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to General Alexander Smyth, Jan. 17, 1825

These people may force our country to revisit the First Amendment's unlimited protection of Freedom of Religion. Our founders never meant that to be a suicide pact or to allow unbridled sedition resulting in the destruction of our country and all its ideals.
Freedom of Religion does not include the right for the insane to become dangerous to the rest of society!
