McCain's "Spiritual Guide" Wants America to Destroy Islam

You may have heard of Rev. John Hagee, the McCain supporter who said God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its homosexual "sins." Well now meet Rev. Rod Parsley, the televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio who hates Islam. According to David Corn of Mother Jones, Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a "false religion." In the past, Parsley has also railed against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis.

John McCain actively sought and received Parsley's endorsement in the presidential race. McCain has called Parsley "a spiritual guide," and he hasn't said whether he shares Parsley's vicious anti-Islam views. That's because the mainstream media refuses to ask. And so, we've taken matters into our own hands, joining Mother Jones to present the truth about McCain's pastor.

Since the media won't question McCain about his deeply bigoted pastor, it's up to you to call attention to this issue. Make McCain's pastor problem a major story by forwarding this video to your family, friends, and colleagues.

We can't let McCain get away with aligning himself with a religious leader who's called for an all-out war on Islam, someone who draws no distinctions between Muslims and violent Islamic extremists. Now is the crucial time to act.

If Parsley -- and by implication, McCain -- doesn't draw a distinction between violent Islamic extremists and regular everyday Muslims, then why should anyone draw a distinction between everyday Christians and VIOLENT Christian EXTREMISTS like Hagee and Parsley!?

These people, Parsley and Hagee and their ilk, are very dangerous and are literally evil. (Hagee even wants to bring about the end of the world by having the US pre-emptively nuke Iran!)

They may believe they are members of the "Army of God", but it is obvious that they are on the side of Satan instead!

But hey, who is going to vote for Obama over McCain if Obama doesn't wear his flag pin!?

Many Americans agree with Reverend Parsley

I used to watch Reverend Parsely pretty regularly in the past, although I looked at it as comedy more than anything else. Sadly many Americans actually agree with his views. If you were to forward this video to the people who were forwarding those e-mails that were slandering Obama, they would probably agree with everything Parsely is saying. I always got the feeling that the right wingers who always went out of their way to say things like "Islamo-fascism" and "Islamic terrorists" and other such phrases might actually agree with Parsley behind closed doors, but maintain this persona of tolerance in the public eye to fool swing voters. In public they claim they are only against terrorists, but I imagine that many of them are against Islam in general in private.

I have not seen a poll about Americans attitude towards Islam, but I would bet that a much larger percentage of Americans believe Islam is a false religion that must be eliminated than most of us on alternet would like to admit.

But don't worry, Iraq will become a blossoming bastion of democratic secualrism that will spread throughout the Middle East. Wait, what's that? Iraq was secular BEFORE the war and now it is heading towards a democratically elected radical Islamic state? Maybe this war on terror was designed to be a war on Islam from the beginning.

Good luck to the next President, they have quite a mess to clean up.

. . . the Reverend Wright stuff is perfectly designed to alienate those crucial swing voters who may have listened to Obama's message of hope and unity. The Republicans know this, and will trot out the Reverend ad nauseum to continue to cast doubt on whether Obama can unify.

Rev. Wright is dangerous only insofar as he can make Obama's potential supporters question their candidate's sincerity.

There is not a single McCain voter that will be alienated by news of an Islam-hating spiritual leader in McCain's camp. If anything, that will endear McCain to them even further.

Let's not assume turnabout is fair play vis-à-vis the negativity. Like it or not, McCain is going to carry the votes of those Americans who "get off on warfare" as this preacher so eloquently put it.

is saying exactly what "radical" bearded mullahs are ranting at their ignorant congregations on the other side of the planet - just switch Islam to Christianity. In both cases these freaks are tiny but dangerous minorities within the general populace. I just wish there was a way they could mutually destroy each other without bringing the entire the world down with them. God have mercy on the rest of us.

There is no such source and cause of strife, quarrel, fights, malignant opposition, persecution, and war, and all evil in the state as religion. Let it once enter our civil affairs, our government would soon be destroyed. Let it once enter our common schools, they would be destroyed. Those who made our Constitution saw this, and used the most apt and comprehensive language in it to prevent such a catastrophe.

For the life of me I can't understand why, as a country of so-called enlightened people, we haven't undertood a syllable of that comment.

Blah Blah Blah to the Reverends of Hate

W are all listening to the Reverends that have hate as their message and nothing else to say that was supposed to be the message of the hope and the gospel which means good. Does what a person believe in private have anything to do with their public life? That is quite obvious that it does, and no matter how the Founding Fathers thought about the problem of religion and the state we have crossed the line very distinctively. Where is the opposition to counteract this lunacy? If there are people who buy into this sort of malignant rhetoric, then they are going to pay the price of their ignorance. I would say that the gloom and doomers of the universe and this cosmological eschatology is going to be around until we realize that they are completely insane. Where is the message of love and forgiveness where we only hear this vehemence toward the other religions which are purportedly false. Sounds like the typical dualistic mentality of good vs. evil and where that leads is inevitable. Thanks to the media we can listen to this diatribe from the mouth of god who says we are to believe every word of the Reverend's gospel. Hasn't he heard of hermeneutics? I guess not, and that would not make difference if he did.

Clear & Present Danger to our National & International Security

This goes beyond the realm of Free speech or Freedom of Religion. This Rhetoric incites not just fear and hatred but violent reactions from both sides. He and Hagee and the rest of th e'Armegeedon' folks would be of no real concern to th emajority of americans Or the World if it were not for the fact they have eleivers in high places in Gov't. Bill Moyer did an expose'with full an drevealing footage of Hagee and his 'End of Days' stratedgy. What terrified me was the Politicians who stood on stage with him - then showered him with Praise and agreement.think what you want aobut Rev Wright- his is not a danger to US or anyone else-he was reviewing factual history and pointing out how such destructive thoughts and actions must Stop. Hagee & Parsley are preaching how to Destroy the world so THEY may be the Special ones to be 'Raptured' while the rest of mankind burns. Bush, McCain, Liebermann and apparently Hillary are fully accepting and intiated into being such 'Warriors' for these Meglomaniacs.Willing to get the ball started with Hagees stratedgy of Pre-emptively striking Iran who has no WMDs (either) and provoking Retailitory attacks from th eMuslim wold, Russia & China.Ironically Delusional how such 'God Fearing' People have no problem usurping the design, schedule and Judgement of their own 'Maker'- to me it is blanantly heretic and Blasphemous placing oneselves above the 'Almighty'

The Crusaders vs the Jihad,a clash of fundimentalisms.

This is a kind of Christianity (Dominionism that promotes race, class, militarism and post milleniealism--where the earth is made safe for Xtianity[converted or dead])that is more Old Testament than Beatitudes. More of smite mine enemy down not turn the other cheek, kind of Wrath of God. Old style storm God Odin/JHVH ,what I label as "Nordic Christianity."

It is fighting against a kind of Islamism that has roots in the Assassins and also a dominionist view that all must be converted or killed to the cause. No other Allah/God but theirs.
If you look a Shar'ia Law, it really isn't any different than the Old Testament Laws the Dominionists demand we follow.

Being Fundimentalist there are no neutral parties allowed much less any other world view will be tolerated. Indeed tolerance is a dirty word to both of them.

Some 32% to 35% of the core constituents of the Bush/Cheney Axis of Evil support many tenants of the Dominionist world view, and spiritual view too. Since their 1934 failure they have been hard at work to take over here. They mostly have. The fact that the Congress won't impeach even with pages of violations of the Constitution/Bill of Rights is a clear indicator of how far the rot of theocracy/corporate/military has spread. The USA as the present entity is mostly passed. The empire is here. What next?
