It seems that Arianna Huffington has run up against the impenetrable wall that is Tim Russert's ego. Huffington, who is currently on tour for her new book "Right Is Wrong: How The Lunatic Fringe Hijacked America, Shredded The Constitution, and Made Us All Less Safe, will be appearing on CNN, ABC, and CBS. She had been booked on Morning Joe and Countdown with Keith Olbermann as well, but those bookings were suddenly and inexplicably cancelled.

NBC confirmed that Huffington wouldn't be booked on any NBC-affiliated show to promote her book, but refused to explain why. Huffington's people say that this is Tim Russert's doing, that Russert is out for revenge because Huffington called him a "conventional wisdom zombie" in her book and devoted seven pages to faulting Russert for allowing his Meet the Press guests to go unchallenged (not to mention HuffPo's RussertWatch).

If Huffington's claim is true and Russert has been pulling rank with NBC, then this whole affair smacks of immature middle-school antics. Is Russert really that sensitive that he can't take criticism from Huffington? And if he truly thinks his show hasn't become an outlet for Bush administration figures to push their message uncontested (as Huffington suggests), then shouldn't he bring Huffington on and challenge her assertions? Or, at the very least, allow Huffington to go on another NBC show?

Probably not, since that would mean Russert would have to ask tough questions for a change.

Digg!

How refreshing.. This is what is being shut down by the "Big Bro" Media Machine. Insightful and thought provoking people like Arianna are being trashed day in and day out.. She makes a clear example why the "Right is Wrong" That is why she will get censered.

Russert asks PLENTY of tough questions and tougher followups

Haven't you ever seen him interrogate a Democrat?

If this story is true, it is an outrage. I am not a big Ariana fan (Deleted Huffpo after the Cheney/Afghan/bomb flap - because she caved and deleted comments. Was her right. Canceling my sub was mine.)but Russert is the biggest ass in the broadcast (TV) MSM. He is a disgrace to journalism (whether this story is true or not) and is as "Fair and Balanced" as Feaux News.

F*#$ Russert and F*#$ Chuck (Todd) as well

And I'm getting suspicious of Olbermann as well. I had it with Russert and his totally outrageous treatment of Dennis Kucinich in the debates that he was "allowed" to participate in. NBC Political Director Chuck Todd earned my undying enmity for blocking Kucinich from participating in debates before even ONE vote had been cast in the primaries. Should anyone be surprised they have banned Ms. Huffington? Hey, they are owned by corporate polluter and defense contractor GE, after all.

I already get my news from alternative sources... Pacifica Radio, Democracy Now, BBC, and I don't have ANY television programming at home.

My participation in any sort of "boycott" would be a lie... I'm already not buying their products as it is. Not even Olbermann's show... as much as I might enjoy it.

What else can I do?

Is it the mainstream media's take on reality or the way Rev. Jeremiah Wright sees things? Seems to me that Wright's mostly right and the MSM has become a high priced whore. The fact that Obama has repudiated the guy who tells it like it really is (for the most part), doesn't help Barack's reputation. He too is lining up with the whoremongers. Oh, well, a nation gets the government it deserves. I guess this is what we've earned.

I've sent the following to Meet the Press and MSNBC News. Please feel free to borrow any part or the entirety of this message to send them as well. In cases such as these, bombardment is the only solution I'm aware of. Here's the link to where to post your comments:

Have you lost your barking minds? Barring Arianna Huffington from a news program because her book hurt Tim Russert's feelings. Please grow up! This level of immaturity is in no way shape or form worthy of the giants upon whom's shoulders you pygmys dare tread. Good Night and Good Luck!

NBC Hosts are Free to Cover and Interview Who They Want until the NBC Corporate Board Objects

This story shows just how farcical the claim, often perpetuated by the corporate news media, is that they are fair and balanced, with hosts allowed to cover whatever stories they choose and interview whoever they choose.

The truth is they can't wipe their own asses if the higher ups object to it.

Everyone has given Keith Olbermann so much praise but how vocal and outspoken was he back when Bush started all this BS in Iraq.

It wasn't until popular opinion swayed against Bush that he jumped on the bandwagon with his fiery speeches on his show.

All these hosts sell their ethics down the river in order to keep their cushy jobs at the networks. Why do we keep watching these corporate toadies?

What prima donnas this talking heads have become. Not allowing certain political analysts and authors to appear on your show because he/she may have said something that hurt your feelings? He lets the most ridiculous people come on his show, Rove, Cheney, Rumsfield, etc., proven liars who have led this country down a shady path and he censors Arianna? I am not a fan of her site because it's nothing but Obama 24 hours but she does have a handle on the pulse of the country and even if you disagree, she can serve up a pretty good argument. These overpaid bigmouths are nothing but corporate shills for the tools who pay their wages and they are no more interested in hearing the truth than Bush. A pox on their combined (million dollar) houses.

How does it feel to have your comments "banned'?

I find it ironic that ms huffpo gets censored.
I was banned from commenting a couple of weeks ago @huffpo. Not sure why but I suspect that McCain fans clicked "flag this comment" because I suggested the reason McCain doesn't seem to remember details is the early onset of Alzheimer's.
It's either that or he is just a delusional flip floppin' warmonger.
That's not abusive it's just an observation.

As for the talking heads in the MSM I am glad to see that many people are annoyed as I am as to the piss poor selection of pundits served up.
Russert's either nit picks about personal non issue stuff or uses 'what if' hypotheticals. Meet the Press serves as stage for mostly vacuous gas bags kinda like the so called debates and their moderators. Pundits that ponder their self worth.
Stepanopolis is another good example of a bad moderator. He dismissed Kucinich and Paul as not having a chance long before they were given the chance. Same with Chuck Todd manipulating those miserable debates by excluding Kucinich.
IMO

We no longer have true journalists or a free press in America. Once they start censoring the internet, we will lose our last medium of a means of communicating the truth. The Corporate-State dictates what we see and hear via the MSM. Everything our founding fathers feared when they wrote the Constitution has come to pass. The Right of the citizens to keep and bear arms is all that is left. Lets see what this Supreme Court has to say on this ammendment.
