Even after The New York Times exposed a secret Pentagon campaign to infiltrate the media with pro-war propaganda, FOX News continues to pretend that pundits like Robert H. Scales and Thomas McInerney are both objective and reliable experts. This is disgraceful, and it's largely due to the fact that the mainstream press hasn't followed up on the NY Times piece.

The scheme reaches all the way to the Bush White House, where top officials recruited dozens of "military analysts" to spread favorable views of the war via the news. Many of these propaganda pundits didn't reveal that they were working from Pentagon scripts or lobbying for companies seeking to cash in on major military contracts. This is a violation of every conceivable standard of journalism -- and possibly of federal law.

Pentagon Pundit Scandal Broke the Law

This is why the Office of Public Diplomacy was shut down during the 80s... domestic propaganda is illegal.

This entire program needs to be investigated and criminal charges brought against those who have broken the law.

But these so called military analysts have also broken their oath to defend the Constitution, so it seems only proper for congress to revoke their military commissions and any benefits they may receive.

We must make it clear that we expect all of our military officers, active or retired, to uphold the highest ethical standards.

However, how can a citizen rely on our Congress to investigate others when most of its members themselves need to be investigated. A two-party system supposed to be in genuine opposition towards each other to serve our best interests, in a country leaning towards fascism, doesn't exist.

For years various interests have planted stories in mainstream newspapers (WP, NYT etc), then gone on the Sunday morning talk shows citing the article as support for whatever it is they are advocating.

It's the perfect self-licking ice cream cone.

Gee, "the mainstream media hasn't followed up" . . .? Wow - what were you expecting? The truth? Do yourself a favor: look up Operation MOCKINGBIRD. Then do everyone here a favor and report what you've found (just a little exercise in knowing what the hell you're talking about - and demonstrating that you're not in cahoots with MOCKINGBIRD).
