Huckabee Comes Out Against Negative Campaigning With a Negative Ad [VIDEO]

Get that. He manages to act holier-than-thou, diss the "media", get all his negative points across AND all the news outlets are carrying it.

Read about this a bit ago on FDL, then CNN just ran a thing about it. My reaction? Brilliant.

DES MOINES - In an act of political jujitsu, Mike Huckabee has halted a negative ad that he was about to broadcast on television Monday against his Republican rival, Mitt Romney. But while claiming the moral high ground, he proceeded to show the ad to a roomful of reporters, photographers and television cameras who are repeating his anti-Romney message for free while Mr. Huckabee declares that his hands are clean.

The display unfolded at the Marriott Hotel here to the mirth of the media who watched Mr. Huckabee's legerdemain even as the media itself became the conduit for his attacks against Romney.

At the same time, he pointed to media cynicism as the reason he felt compelled to show the ad, saying that unless he showed it, reporters would not believe that it really existed. It criticized Mr. Romney's record as governor of Massachusetts, saying he supported gun control, allowed a co-pay for abortions in his health plan, raised taxes and ordered no executions.

Get that. He manages to act holier-than-thou, diss the "media", get all his negative points across AND all the news outlets are carrying it.

Check out how many videos are already up at YouTube about it!! And he didn't even have to spend a dime. Freaking brilliant.

Added- Wow, it's just viral. Look at all the links Memeorandum has on it. Even the foreign press is covering it.

This is what you guys call informing the public?
Its really sad how "The Media" have dumbed down our society to the level that this is considered NEWS and something to discuss!
Research what they are doing and plan on doing about the issues that effect us, Their employers!
Then again you guys depend on the "Schumann"(Bill Moyers/PBS)for serious donations so it explains why you guys always go with the flow of the mainstream which is really sad.
We need information bad, and giving us a little here and zero there in substance is why I haven't donated so far! Unfortunately this dumbing down of the public seems to be working well!
How is it we have settled for this type of so-called journalism? Posting these, "He said", "She said", crap is doing exactly what the politicians want, while ignoring what "We the People" need in order to make an informed decision about the future direction of our country! Alternet your 'Horns' are showing!

Huckabee is like Gomer... or is it Goober?
Can anyone be serious about this guy? He is full of that old religious judging hatred. Pull the wool off of him by quoting his own words - past AND present.

Where is Aunt Bee when we need her?

While waiting for my latest AlterNet to come in, I was reading Politico this morning and they have quite an extensive article about this latest little trick by a master trickster. It seems that Huck could very well have overplayed his hand this time. The writer noted that the reporters who were at this news conference were pretty dismayed at this tactic. One of the cable news shows (MSNBC) when reporting it noted that "they, (the show), were not going to play the ad since Huckabee didin't pay for air time and what he wanted was for it to be shown as part of a news source."

What really gets you is, do these guys think we're all that dumb? Guess so.

Huck FAIRTAX vs Mitt's TAX PRIVILEGES

One hopes that the Huckabee campaign will counter Romney attacks by pointing out how, at Bain Capital, Mr. Romney used offshore corporations (and continues to) in order to avoid U.S. taxation, and he fee-milked acquired businesses before firing workers and taking them into bankruptcy, to amass his great $250,000,000 wealth.

So, when you compare how Mr. Huckabee's visionary FairTax advocacy compares to Romney's interest in the current tax system, it's pretty easy to see who will lead us out of tax slavery - the $265 billion annual tax code compliance costs representing 5 billion wasted hours, annually.
