Sorry to hit you with a depressing video right before Christmas, but this is an important story to keep out there. Especially since Huckabee has claimed that he in no way pushed for the release (when governor of Arkansas) of serial rapist Wayne Dumond and the members of the parole board have repeatedly contradicted him. Check out the video to your right for more of this tragic story.

What's the message here?

Sorry about your daughter, but what is the message here? Sounds like a right-wing one to me.

Progressives are always complaining that our system is too punitive, not rehabilitative, and that we give up on people too easy. In the real world, if we decide to give people a second chance, some mistakes will be made, and this won't be the last. Criminals are human, and so are the members of our legal system who decide to give them a break, whether liberal or conservative.

It seems like you're trying to stick it to Huckabee however you can, and make this political, without thinking about the larger message you're sending. There are plenty of other things wrong with Huckabee. Why are you obsessing on this one?

... that he pardoned, it doesn't say he rehabilitated them. You can not rehabilitate a convicted murderer rapist on a pardon, dear.

Maybe if it was your daughter (and its almost alway women who get killed) you might have 2nd thoughts. The system was put in place to protect the public from these cretin animals who prey on innocent young girls who never grow up to be mothers or President of the United States.

Amazing how the victim and their families are "righteously" discounted. REHABILITATION SHOULD TAKE PLACE IN PRISON THROUGH VARIOUS FORMS OF COUNSELING, WORK AND TRAINING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL testing. Its a proven fact that the recidivism rate amoung rapists is very high. We could let him live near you and your family and you could welcome him into your home. How abuot that????

He would do the same thing in an instant. Maybe those who don't object to the pardon forgot that Hickey took the killer's supposed religious leanings into account, probably by saying "He has a deep Christian faith," or "He has accepted Jesus," or some such childish slop. People who do that prove nothing except that they're not too bright. Hickey deserves to be president as much as Porky Pig.
