Look, which has already won major kudos on the film festival circuit and will be in theaters this Friday, is sure to be a thought provoking and controversial film. It purports to be made entirely out of surveillance footage shot without the knowledge the people involved.

According to the film's director Adam Rifkin, 37 states say it's legal to out video cameras in public dressing rooms. Rifkin seeks to provoke audiences to ask themselves, "Who is watching this footage and who is keeping it safe from public distribution? Who has access to it and for how long? What safeguards exist to make sure highlights of your ass are not making it onto the most viewed list on YouTube?" Check out the trailer to your right for more.

Misleading information

You state "It purports to be made entirely out of surveillance footage shot without the knowledge the people involved." This in fact is not true.
According to
Newsweek that is not true. Even the Look website says that is only shot from the perspective of a security camera. This doesn't mean that the movie isn't frightening but it is not a true story.

This film, according to the web site, will only be available for viewing to those who live in New York City, Los Angeles, or Chicago. This is the case with a lot of films which I would like to see. It is hard to comment on a film which I won't be able to see until it comes out on DVD.

Cool. If the presentation is truthful or accurate to what Rifkin says it is. Maybe it'll wake up the dumbass 'Merkaans who wanted this kind of thing in exchange for their belief in "security."

However, I doubt it. The dressing room opening says it all... voyeurism rules the 'Merkaan psyche (YouTube... duh) and that'll be the negative side-effect of this important film.

I'll be in line in LA Friday.

NPR has these fabulous podcasts called "Intelligence Squared" and one of them focuses on the use of surveillance in America. The Oxford-style debate discussed the proposition "Better More Surveillance than Another 9/11". If nothing else, its interesting to hear multiple sides flesh out the issues a little bit more...

Cameras didn't stop 9/11 - why are YOU being watched?

Such cameras were in place long before 9/11 folks.

Where is the surveillance footage of 9/11 terrorists in the airports on the morning of 9/11? Does it even exist? What about the hundreds of cameras surrounding the Pentagon? Why have they released only 5 frames? How many crimes do cameras prevent?

What is the damage to our privacy by allowing such cameras everywhere in our lives?

Do cell phones & computer screens with built-in cameras broadcast without our knowledge?

Do you have a criminal record? Why are you being watched?

Do you remember the "Blair Witch Project"?

This is the same kind of "hooey"

If you buy the entire authenticity of this 'documentary', you must believe George Bush is doing a good job.
