In her new book, “The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot”, Naomi Wolf says the United States is on the road to becoming a fascist society, right under our very noses. Wolf outlines what she sees as the ten steps to shut down a democratic society and argues that the Bush administration has already implemented many of these steps. Wolf is the author of several books including the 1990s feminist classic, “The Beauty Myth.” In the video to your right Wolf is interviewed by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now.

US Corporations had always been fond of FASCISM!!

In the 1930s, US corporate folks and politicians had visited Mussolini's fascist Italy and had publicaly marveled at the seeming order and economic stability fascism had allegedly brought to that country. They said it was the model the US should follow.

And the aftermath of the Olympics held in Nazi Germany in 1936 was a HUGE publicity boom exploited to show the world that fascism is the idea model all nations should adopt.

Perhaps were it not for World War II, full blown fascism would have arrived here much, much sooner, regrettably.

We can still stop this fascist nightmare from happening! The remedy is in the Constitution.
IMPEACHMENT! USE IT!

Impeach Cheney NOW

Defense of the Constitution Knows No Party

The Bush administration has illegally seized and imprisoned Americans without benefit of their trial by jury, has spied on Americans without warrant in violation of the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, has lied America into a disastrous war, and has betrayed an American intelligence officer, who was working on weapons of mass destruction networks, to our enemies (Valerie Plame.)

Impeachment hearings against Vice President Dick Cheney are now a distinct possibility, thanks to a recent outpouring of public support for impeachment by Americans across the political spectrum. Your calls and faxes to House Judiciary Committee members are needed to keep up the pressure.

Leave a message for your Congressman, to demand he obey his oath to "defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Act now to restore your rights and the rule of law bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers, which brave men have died defending throughout our history.

Call the House Judiciary Committee

202-225-3951
and demand that Impeachment hearings begin ASAP!

*What Happened to Make This All Possible?

On November 6, 2007, Rep. Dennis Kucinich brought H.Res.333, for the impeachment of Cheney, to the House Floor for debate. It was broadcast on CSPAN. A sudden outpouring of public support for impeachment forced lawmakers to keep the resolution alive. Democrats, most of whom currently resist demands for impeachment, were unwilling to kill the bill with the public watching. Republicans and some Democrats, mindful of impeachment sentiment, voted to debate the bill, but failed. At the end of the day, Americans of both parties had made it clear whose "table" this is, and that they want to see impeachment on it.

This country's slide into fascism really took off with the election of Ronald Reagan.

The economic forces of fascism, or corporatism, were always just under the surface in Cold War America, but it was under Reagan that the full-tilt Bozo-Nazi crap really began.

I remember how shocked my friends and I were when we saw the current Kevlar military helmet for the first time on TV during the Grenada invasion.

I guess the slide into fascism will culminate just in time for Bush to leave office?

Give your country more credit than this. Of nearly all the nations, America would be one of the most difficult to subvert into any kind of dictatorship. Continue to be vigilant against such a slide, but also have pride in the fact that liberty is so hardwired into, not just your constitution, but also the American identity.

One of my favorite quotes is by Mussolini who said, “Fascism should more correctly be called corporatism.” While impeachment and restoration of our lost constitutional guarantees should be a priority near the top of the list, campaign financing must be accomplished. There has been an effort and movement towards Fascism for over one hundred years now. Giving corporations nearly the same rights as persons is a huge mistake. In some ways corporations have even more rights than individuals. It is pretty clear to me we are past the tipping point.
Citizens arm yourselves. This is already ugly.

Since the fraudulent 2000 "election", it's been nothing but a downhill slide into a despotic dictatorship. This was DELIBERATE, folks; things like this don't happen by accident. Forget all the nonsense about how brave and upstanding our people are, and that we'd NEVER allow our country to be stolen from us. We did just that when WE ALLOWED THE BUSHIE SCUMBAGS TO GET AWAY WITH THE THEFT OF THE PRESIDENCY in 2000. It'll be a real toughie to reverse all this, what with all the boneheads who STLL don't see what's right in front of their eyes. Maybe we'll have to descend into chaos before we can make things better. What a waste.

Step 1, get people to realize it happened and step 2, do the things necessary to unring that bell. An activity that should at least get a good start in an impeachment proceeding - live on TV. It IS our country, I think we can get it back from these scoundrels.

Contact your congressperson and let them know exactly what you want them to do about this, like HR 333 - PUT IT ON THE TABLE!

How strange it is that two beautiful jewish Naomis, (Wolf and Klein), would have to tell us about the impending doom of facism in America both with books simultaneously in print? How weird is that?
Some have even suggested that these two beauties should have their own TV show where they can hold forth on how to save America from the ravages of the sinister forces of corporate fascism. Sounds like a novel idea and they might even get to reveal such other sinister forces like Sheldon Adelson who silently buys presidential candidates. Or reveal AIPAC for what it is, a foreign lobby that spies on the United States. There's so much they could do as cute jewish American princesses to save America. (JAPS)

Thanks Naomi, truly one of a dying breed in America something called a journalist. One of my favorite stories comes from William Shirer's book who was stationed in Nazi Germany. He went to the 1936 Winter Olympics, which were held in Germany that year too. He said it was the first time that he ever heard young American businessmen talking about how the Nazis had the right idea on how to handle labor. Much of this period has disappeared down the hole of selective memory but it doesn't make it any less true.

Not every piece of the puzzle is in place yet, but WE The People need to get on the phone and into action. Call your friends, and Congresspeople.

New York city is already a police state. People get arrested and property confiscated when playing music in public parks. Anything that looks remotely like a protest is rapidly squelched by the heavy-handed police force. Peace marchers have been forced to take roads far from water and shelter during hot weather.

New York State literally threatens taxpayers not to claim "excessive" tax exemptions from their paychecks during the year, on threat of fines and criminal prosecution. (!!?) That's harsher than Federal tax regulations!!

Although it can be reasonably discussed as to whether or not there are 10 (or 8 or 13 or 2)steps or criteria in any organized attempt or wish to implement a fascist mode of government, Naomi Wolf's interpretation contains pretty much the general manner in which such a goal could be accomplished.

It's important also to look (for instance at Wolf's 10 steps) in each one of these the historical threads and their existence in an incipient (or wish-ful) form in previous times. Perhaps in smaller scale or proportion, every one of these steps has been partially or in modified form implemented before -- going back to the Founding if one cares to search that far. It is today, as it has always been, the citizens who must stand strong in opposition to these attempts -- now more than ever, since they are being implemented in blanket and ubiquitous forms in all aspects of our living. Each one of us must declare rejection, resistance and refusal to accept this form of 'governance'. Ultimately, authority and acceptance rest with us. Reject Corporatism and Fascism. It's not only patriotic, it's down-right necessary.

Research by means of Google or any search-engine H.R. 1955, recently over-whelmingly passed by the House and awaiting an expected over-whelming passage in the Senate (and a virtually guaranteed signing by the Unitary Executive).

The road to tyranny, as well as other more symbolic places, is paved with intentions. This is strictly domestic, not 'foreign' legislation. And it is a test of any actual and effective meaning attached to the word 'liberty'.

The "road" Kerouac traversed has been paved over and is no longer accessible. Social and Cultural (not to mention economic and political) existence, it seems, has been Enclosed by a corporate-state. This Stadium now has a Dome.

Please at least read H.R. 1955 care-fully and in context within these dark times. Commentary is urgent.

The real problem
Posted by: nellie blogger on Dec 2, 2007 9:01 AM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The real problem with corporatism/fascism is that it's so comfortable for the people who aren't hurt by it. The system makes life easy and attractive for enough people so that there's no effective opposition to the system from within the system. Until the majority of us learn to be just as outraged by unjustices done to others as we are at unjustices done to ourselves, we're going to be in danger from people who exploit our lesser angels. That's the story of mankind.

A spectre is haunting America, the spectre of fascism. Fascism has historically been the political expression of capitalism's death gasp. It is a brutal and unsustainable system. But everywhere we see it peeking out of the shadows as the Crisis of profitability of US Capitalism looms ever larger.

Fascism is not necessarily statist. The European model in the mid 20th century was statist because of Europe's history of political absolutism beginning in the 17th century and because of the irreconcilable fractures within many European ruling classes which required strong states to assert a unified agenda and to restore the profitability of national capitalism through the internal suppression of labor and through external imperialist aggression to solve profitability constraints through expansionism. Interestingly, the German economy under Hitler never resolved its low productivity constraint through efficiency and cost effectiveness. It dealt with the profit squeeze with slave labor, conquest, forced confiscatory exchange rates in occupied countries and outright pillage. The war got German industry's profit rates up and consequently the profit rates of the US corporations that invested in the German economy. Yet German industry remained plagued by high unit costs until after WWII.

In the US, fascism, in an epoch of corporate globalization, will not require a strong but a weak state. This is because state's rights means removing federal impediments to capital like regulations, taxes, labor and environmental standards, and direct control and ownership of economic assets. By eliminating federal intervention and devolving former federal functions to the weaker and resource deficient states, Corporations assume control through total privatization of the economy and a further concentration of wealth. In this manner American society becomes denationalized and subject to the easy authoritarian control of local elites which can impose draconian agenda without the fear of appeals to a weakened federal body or rigged US Supreme Court. Thus, US fascism will be a privatized and denationalized form of corporate domination.

Under this agenda America will move from being a broad based middle class society to being a narrow, highly stratified society with rigid class boundaries and an incredibly skewed distribution of income and wealth. Corporations like Blackwater and Dyncorp will guard rich communities behind iron gates while the poor will be expected to fend for themselves through their second amendment rights. We will devolve into a kind of decentralized corporate fuedalism where people are consumers not citizens and where there will be no entitlement or rights other than what one can glean from corporations. There will be no basic minimum social standards and whole parts of society will deteriorate as capitalism continues to more intensively globalize. Privatization will replace government at the local levels too while privately employed bully boys keep people in line.

This is definately one of the reasons for the Iraq War. Iraq, amoung other things, is a laboratory of how privatization, denationalization and contract-based governance will work in a future US. The gulags being built by Halliburton costing hundreds of billions will house those who resist or who don't fit into the new order.

This is the essence of Ron Paul's radical anti-federalism. This is the dialectic of the unConstitutionality of Constitutionalism. This is exacly why the working poor should oppose him in favor of socialism. And this is why the Republican Party allows an anti-war Texan to run around trying to mislead the working poor into abandoning their true interests.

[For low-tech among us, see a transcript of the interview.]

As a Rhodes Scholar like Bill Clinton, Wolf has been trained to espouse a centralized system to control the populace. She has no faith in us "common" people to organize and create changes that works for us and not for the establishment powers. She wants us to believe in the existence of powerful, benevolent persons who will save us little folks from the coming crises.

Examining her "solution" is a way in which we can see how most of us are being kept as slaves in a matrix of control. Our voices are ignored, and our needs are overlooked. As slaves, we are being dominated, sickened, and imprisoned (or threatened with imprisonment if we are bad). And when our usefulness is over, we will be left to die or be killed.

If this makes sense to you and you're tired of being enslaved, join us in Slaves Anonymous to start making grassroots changes that will improve the security of you and your family. You and your neighbors have the autonomy, creativity, diversity, passion and transcendence to become self-owners and create the conditions necessary for emancipation of your local community from the global tyranny of slavery or serfdom or corporatism or government or fascism or psychopathy or whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Let's work together: You stop it in your community; I'll stop it in mine.

Political scientist Dr. Lawrence Britt recently wrote an article about fascism ("Fascism Anyone?," Free Inquiry, Spring 2003, page 20). Studying the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile), Dr. Britt found they all had 14 elements in common. He calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The excerpt is in accordance with the magazine's policy.

Two very important videos are to be found at www.marchinmyname.org. View a short talk by John Niremberg describing his in progress now walk from Boston to D.C. to see Nancy Pelosi to implore her(The House) to impeach Bush and Cheney. Scroll over then to the right and down for a speech Naomi Wolf gave recently in Washington State. It is even more frightening than her talk with Amy. At the end of Naomi's speech she relates how and why her opinion on impeaching Bush and Cheney changed as she watched more alarming signs of fascism in America. She concludes that not only MUST Bush and Cheney be impeached, but placed behind bars to save our democracy from the fascist effects on the next president.
