starting a new investigation into 9/11, and campaign on ending the wars.

With the majority of Americans now firmly against the wars, and at least half of all Americans doubting the "official story" of a man in a cave directing 19 hijackers to use boxcutters to fool our military and security systems" (wherein they use two planes to bring down three skyscrapers), Kucinich and Paul ought to have a huge advantage over all the other front-running candidates who are pro-war, pro-torture, and obviously covering for the current administration's covering-up of the overwhelming evidence of the 9/11 inside job.

I love all of Dennis' positions but only some of Ron Paul's - getting rid of the Federal Reserve and the IRS being the best of the lot- but I think if they could resolve the major differences it would be a great idea. We need drastic change in this country, and we need smart, strong people to make it.

And I would LOVE for Elizabeth to be our First Lady - what an amazing woman. Just the fact that Dennis was smart enough to ask her to marry him the second time he met her, and the fact that she said yes, should tell you the man is smart and knows how to get what he wants.

however, there are some significant ideas held by Ron Paul with which I could never agree. Yes, Kucinich is right on as far as the majority of issues, including IMPEACHMENT. I'd be interested to hear Kucinich expand on people he might look at for his cabinet...I'd really like to know who he thinks would be a good Secretary of State, Defense, etc...He wouldn't have to make a firm commitment, just to articulate his musing about the subject.

DK/RP ticket would do something that would turn the electorate on it's head, wake-up the 50% of the populace that long ago gave-up on this corrupt system.

Like Nader, Perot that populace approach would ignite those that have felt disenfranchised and if that were to happen you could toss all predictions out the window.

Personally, I believe both men are pragmatic enough to compromise. DK being the more intelligent and diplomatic would be able to control any of RP's more radical proposals to cut social programs.

At any rate, given what the corporate owned politicians are shoving down our throats I'd vote for DK if he picked Winnie the Poo as a running mate.

In the plus column, having the ongoing give-and-take between a lefty and libertarian would be good for the country because it would tend to reduce the authority of the Executive branch.

Elizabeth Kucinich would be a great asset to the nation as previously noted by other posters.

To me, the best thing about Ron Paul is that he has the GOP totally flummoxed. They don't know how to handle this guy, who is in many ways articulating the so-called "true conservative" position. He's an embarassment to the GOP at every debate, because as the rest of the herd spew platitudes and nonsense, Ron Paul stands up and tells the truth as it's understood by many Americans.

Someone posted earlier about Paul's other positions... if you dig deeper than the 4 or 5 issues where he agrees with progressives you find a very traditional Texas conservative. I've recently visited a blog that explores those positions in great detail, which would be something worth a visit if you want more information before you agree or disagree that he might be a good running mate for Kucinich. Unfortunately I don't have a link for you but if you Google for it you'd probably find it or something like it.

We're going to caucus for Obama, BTW, but in my case it's a political calculation rather than where my heart is. I think Dennis would make a remarkable president, but I don't think he's electable. I hate to say this, and I personally take no stock in it, but he's not photogenic and he's too short. Those are lousy reasons to not vote for president. But the practical matters matter, and I think Obama can win the election.

While I'm at it, there was an article here a couple of days ago about the need for Dems to come up with an Iran policy and I hope the Dems read it.

No one's ever questioned Paul about this funding connection either or why he accepts contributions from this despicable voting block and their sympathizers. Paul has never returned thier dough nor has he denounced their fundraising efforts.

Here are a few reasons Progressives may find Ron Paul a better choice than the others we're being faced with:

* Paul is against the Drug War, including the wars on marijuana and medical marijuana.

* Paul is for Free Speech and other First Amendment Rights.

* Paul is for strict Fourth Amendment protection against illegal search and seizure.

* Paul is against the American Empire and would bring troops home from around the world.

* Paul is, in general, pro-Bill of Rights and pro-peace and anti-war in a way almost no other major party candidate in modern times has been.

* Paul voted against the Patriot Act when it was dangerous to do so. He denounced it at the time as police state legislation.

* Paul is against ALL corporate welfare.

* Paul is against torture, secret prisons, spying on innocent Americans, and the horrors of the post-9/11 Republicrat police state.

* Paul opposes the death penalty.

Incidentally, Paul is not a conservative, he's a libertarian. That's a horse of a different stripe.

Paul and Kucinich? A DREAM TICKET, it seems to me.

Anti-war, pro-civil liberties Americans should get together and work on these issues. We must work together to stop the war, the torture, the gutting of our freedoms that is going on right now.

After we've settled that, *then* we can disagree on whether or not the Post Office should be privatized, whether there should be national health care, and so on. But those are trivial differences compared to the great concerns of today which demand our cooperation.

I've vote for either Kucinich or Paul in a heartbeat.

On Wednesday Jesus' General noticed that Paul won the coveted endorsement from the white-supremacist organization Stormfront (where we'd already noted he was a favorite).

The coup de grace the same day was the report by the SPLC's Heidi Beirich at the Hatewatch blog detailing a Ron Paul campaign appearance planned for today:

The Robert A. Taft Club, a group headed by a man with a network of racist connections, has announced that a U.S. congressman, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), will address the group this Thursday at a restaurant in Arlington, Va.

The Taft Club is led by Marcus Epstein, who serves as the executive director of both white nationalist Pat Buchanan’s The American Cause and the Team America PAC, which is run by Buchanan’s sister, Bay Buchanan. Epstein writes for the anti-immigrant hate site vdare.com and he advocates for white supremacist organizations. He is especially fond of American Renaissance — a white supremacist journal that has suggested that blacks have “psychopathic personalities” — and attends the journal’s biannual conferences. In 2006, Epstein invited the head of American Renaissance’s parent organization, Jared Taylor, to speak to the Taft Club on the issue of “Race and Conservatism.”

Taylor isn’t the only extremist Epstein has invited to speak at the Taft Club’s meetings. Both Paul Gottfried, who has spoken at American Renaissance gatherings, and Robert Stacy McCain, a foe of interracial marriage who is an editor at The Washington Times, have spoken to the club. (Epstein is listed as one of McCain’s friends on McCain’s Facebook Internet page). This past February, Epstein invited two members of a racist and anti-immigrant Belgian party, Vlaams Belang, to speak to his group. In 2004, an earlier incarnation of the Vlaams Belang, Vlaams Blok, was banned on the grounds that it incited racial hatred.

AUGH!!! KUCINICH AND RON PAUL?? OH...MY...GOD!
Ron Paul embraces a smidgen of reality, but the rest of his platform is as looney as Mike Gravel's. Love their outrage at the Bush/Cheney and Republican/Democrat crime wave we're experiencing, but I wouldn't want Ron Paul anywhere near my body, my child, or our national policy. The very idea of him being a U.S. 'ambassador' discussing U.S. policy with foreign countries, or his interference in health care policy makes my skin crawl. DO NOT BE DECEIVED. TO ASSOCIATE KUCINICH WITH RON PAUL IS POLITICAL SUICIDE FOR KUCINICH. Mrs. Kucinich, new to this country, most certainly did NOT do her homework on Ron Paul. Dennis had better pull this one out of the toilet, and quickly.

No doubt Elizabeth Kucinich was speaking of ideals, not practical reality.

It is interesting that both men are NOT puppets for the Fascist Corporate Mafia status quo as ALL other remaining candidates from both parties are (yes, including Edwards). Both Kucinich and Paul actually speak real truth to power – again, quite unlike their phony competitors.

Paul has weird problems and I'd far prefer Kucinich but both men would disband a fraud "war on terror". More important, both would abolish the so-called Federal Reserve Corporation swindle (no Reserves and not Federal in any way) that has privately rigged the economy and war policy for Corporate Crime since the “Fed” was hatched.

Money is flowing into Paul's campaign coffers from a variety of these types of sources. He has rejected none of them. He has not hinted of a denunciation of the support for any of these groups. He remains silent.

Oh, wow. This logic is amazing. And to think that one of the (many) reasons I was planning on not voting for Hillary Clinton was because she accepts so much money from corporate interests. Thanks to these comments, however, I now know that accepting money from corparate interests does not, in any way, imply the acceptance of corporate values! Thanks for clearing that up!

Vote 18: H R 2: This bill would increase the federal minimum wage from $5.15 an hour to $7.25 an hour over two years. It would increase the minimum wage in three increments. Sixty days after enactment, the minimum wage is to be raised to $5.85. A year after that it will be $6.55, and a year after that it will be $7.25. This is the first change to the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 since 1997 when the federal minimum wage was increased from $4.75 to $5.15 an hour. OF COURSE RON PAUL VOTED NO. Of course he also voted no in the bill to take away tax cuts from big oil. What a great guy!

It's now known that Kucinich wants Paul as his running mate. I'm glad Kucinich cleared that all up for us. Now we know of two nutcases in urgent need of a lobotomy.... and we got to know it long before even one vote was cast. I can't wait to hear what Paul has to say about his "decision,"

Maybe there's reason to believe that things really are turnin' around after all.

I am a Libertarian but I would support DK over the neocons or even over Hillary or Obama. I would rather have my money go increase health care or better schools rather than in weapons for special contractors so they can kill innocent people thousands of miles away.

RP & DK would be my fantasy vote. It would scare the beejus out of the war mongerers.
