On last night's episode of Countdown, Keith Olbermann and David Shuster discuss the bombshells leaked from Scott McClellan's upcoming tell-all book. Not only did McClellan implicate Bush as directly involved in the leak of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity but also sheds new light on the shady commuting of Scooter Libby's prison sentence. Olbermann and Shuster talk about how Cheney wrote talking points for McClellan and other fascinating info from behind the scenes of the White House. Check out the video to your right for more.

I always thought Scott McClellan had it in him

Hats off to Scott McClellan for coming clean. He's taking a huge personal risk; he has concluded that his duty to his country is more important than any risk he may incur.

This should bolster the case for impeachment of Bush and Cheney. They have committed a long series of impeachable offenses, but this one is treason.

Please write, email, or call your House of Representatives member and tell them you want them to support HR 333, the articles of impeachment introduced by Dennis Kucinich.

Is there anyone who didn't know that Scott was lying? And anyone that didn't know he was lying to save the president's behind as well as that of the rest of the administration? Seriously, I never saw or heard him say anything that made me think he didn't know that what he was saying was a lie! Of course, the fact that he's now saying they lied to him is yet another question. How did he figure it out now if he didn't know it before? Do you think Bush and Cheney or any of the other criminals came to him and confessed? Scott was part of the cover-up. He doesn't have anything to fear from them...My guess??? This is yet another distration to give Cheney a little cover while he prepares for Iran. After all, what's going to happen to Bush and Cheney. Face it, there is no stained blue dress which would give Pelosi and Reid real reason to believe there is a threat to America significant enough to look in to...

I do not trust any of them, including Scott. I hope that Patrick Fitzgerald is the only one who buys his book and if there is an iota of truth that he goes after every one of them. Pelosi and Reid need to do the same. God help America if Cheney and Bush are not prevented from invading Iran.

As already noted in these comments, Dennis Kucinich has introduced HR 333 for the impeachment of Dick Cheney.

Here is a link that you can go to if you would like to write your congressperson. It has a sample letter that will be sent to your rep. electronically and you can also print it and send a hard copy.

http://www.impeachbush.org

I don't know how much more of a smoking gun the public needs to do SOMETHING about the criminals who hold the highest offices in the country.

Really, if this doesn't do it people, can someone please hire someone to give Bush a BJ?

Totally disgusted in FL.

Will it come crashing down before these ass-clowns are out of office, or will they start World War III merely to escape scrutiny?

I put NOTHING past them.

SCOTT MCCLELELLAN DOES NOT DESERVE 'CREDIT'

McClellan along with countless others should have told the truth or at least refused to lie to begin with.Big deal, people get fired all the time. All this 'coming clean' after the damage is done is nothing more than people covering their own asses and making money from the book in the process. And yes Bush and Cheney should be impeached, yes I've signed Kucinich's petition, but that won't happen. Because after the lying comes the forgetting. Thanks, ANNA

Because of out of control TSA, the administration now knows everything! Scott McClellan had the publisher leak this so they can't kill him! If McClellan "mysteriously" died now, everyone would instantly know who was responsible!

and where is Ari Fleisher?

I hope McClellan, who always looked too decent for this role of spokesman for mafiosi, is able to tell a lot before being gagged "in time of war" by some judge condoned by a California senator.
Thinking of that, why hasn't Ari Fleisher written a book? I guess his payroll check now is larger than what some publisher would pay, if and when he were to tell enough truths to make it worth it. And then there is the risk of a Yigal Amir just around the corner.

Running from Hurricane Bush!

The mass exodus from the White House is no accident, and those, like McClellan, et al who have distanced themselves understand the levee is about to break.

I understand how a person invited to work at the White House would be enamored with the thought, and, indeed, under normal circumstances it would be a uniquely important opportunity. However, once in that position and exposed to corruption and the use of illegal violence (war) and subjugated to right wing Christian theo-plutocracy, then one may realize that it's time to cut and run.

Of course--and this is my political cynicism at work--McClellan may be burning some bridges, but he stands to profit from this book and the tell-all of his inner circle "confessions."

peace

What the hell is it going to take to jail these bastards?!

When you add up all of the criminality, the lying, the thwarting of the Constitution, the killing in the name of corporate profit, and on and on, by the Bush/Cheney cabal, it gives the Nazis a run for their money.

But – NOTHING EVER HAPPENS!!

The public – at least those who can be torn away from "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars," becomes ever more angry, Congress holds hearings that are pointless beyond grandstanding – BUT NOTHING EVER HAPPENS!!

The law is not invoked, none of the real perps gets prosecuted, and the one who does, little "Scooter," gets a pass.

What makes anyone feel that the fate for these goons will be anything other than skating out of public service with their pockets full of cash?

Those willing to take action have no power (and will likely end up in prison), and those who have the power are too corrupted to stick their necks out. About the only thing most of us can do is vote them out of their cushy jobs. So, please, people – VOTE AGAINST EVERY INCUMBENT. KICK THEM ALL OUT.

(This may seem wimpy, given the sorry state we are in; but, frankly, I don't know what else to do that's legal. . .)

at the time of the press conferences about the Plame affair. Why is anyone surprised? There have been more lies from this administration than any other. I think that bu$h and anyone who speaks for the administration should be put under oath before they speak to the American people or Congress. We try to teach our children to tell the truth and look at the example we have from our leaders. I miss the old days when we had lies about sex and that was good enough for impeachment. What will it take? Pelosi said she needs to hear from the people by snail mail before she will do anything about impeachment. Do it... Write her NOW!

...this way, the cowardly Democrats won't have an excuse that it would mess up the election. Mz Pelosi, if there is any truth or courage to you or your friends at all........put this back up on the table. America is in real trouble here and it is getting worse.
