Ron Paul Loses Support in Home State of Texas, Gains White Supremacist Fans

Looks like he may even lose his seat.

While Texan Ron Paul's stock is soaring nationally, there is trouble on the home front. In September, Paul finished third in a straw poll of 1,300 Texas Republican activists who had been delegates to recent Republican conventions.

The congressman corralled just 17 percent of the votes cast, trailing California's Duncan Hunter with 41 percent.

This outcome says Texas Republicans aren't terribly concerned about viability. Otherwise, one of the national front-runners like Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney would have beaten these long-shots. But if they were willing to "waste" their votes on Hunter, why didn't most back a fellow Texan? The truth is that Ron Paul, the angry prophet, has little honor in his own land. He's about to lose his congressional seat.

What endears him to the Paultards doesn't seem to sway his rank and file constituents.

Angst over Paul has been building for years. In 2004, disgruntled Republicans asked me to find encouragement for challengers. We polled his suburban Houston district and found that voters resist his contrarian and stark libertarian perspective that even sells out local interests. When told that "Ron Paul consistently opposes taxpayer funding for NASA and wants to eliminate the agency," 61 percent of Republican primary voters said this information would make them less likely to vote for Paul's reelection. Similarly, a 54 percent majority said they'd be less likely to vote for Paul when told he "was one of only four Republicans in Congress to vote against President Bush's plan to encourage faith-based charities." The list of negatives was long.

He wants to eliminate NASA and he's a Texas congressman? That'll give him alot more time to hang with his White Supremacist and Anti-Semitic friends.

UPDATE: Ron Paul gets Mel Gibson's dad's endorsement. Yikes.

This blog entry is too funny. Yeah, Ron Paul isn't your typical mainstream status quo Republican so I'm not really surprised. The entry and "points" made are so dumb it's not even worth breaking down and pointing out the hypocrisy and double standards.

Since Paddy has no problem linking to a GOP partisan site as her source, I'll see her "Hill" and raise her one National Review:

...That's interesting — except that NASA is based in the neighboring Houston-Galveston district of Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Tex.)...

...Hill's other piece of evidence is a September straw poll in Dallas (six hours from Paul's district), which Duncan Hunter won with 41 percent. None of the major candidates participated in the poll...

...Finally, Hill cites a phantom poll from "another pollster" from this year. He gives no numbers or questions, but suggests that one of Paul's challengers, Friendswood City Councilman Chris Peden, has a shot at beating him in the March primary. Well, maybe he does. But considering that Peden began his campaign in May and had just $400 in his campaign account at the end of the last quarter, is this assertion worth an entire column in The Hill?...

Also, in case it escaped anyone's notice, the push poll that was done in 2004 (aside from being years old) was done by David Hill himself, author of the source piece. Hmmm, this response to longer to write than the googling-time it took to debunk.

Seriously, what is the point of all this Paul bashing during the primary season? As I mentioned in a previous post and apparently need to repeat: a Republican candidate is GUARANTEED to win the Republican primary. Even if you truly believe in your heart of hearts that Paul is dispicable, why not let him win the primary? The Democrat is sure to look better, no?

Ron Paul is a genuine wise man with little corporate, if any backing. With the federal bank printing money backed by nothing, our economy is at the bankers hands. look into these topics further before your willing to buy into pointing fingers. make your opinions your own.

...that Ron Paul is forcing a debate on civil liberties and our imperialistic foreign policy in the Republican Party? A debate that would not otherwise be happening among the Republican Presidential candidates? You think that this would be something that all progressives would applaud, even if they disagree with Paul about eliminating much of the Federal Government. But no, he must be evil because all Republicans are evil. What a shortsighted view.

you get your odd, very white, all too white followers. This day, and the day prior and after, Vets4Peace had a permit from the City Of Philadelphia for the entire area, CodePink helps them and they help us. The next day we, at least had peace to hang The Peace Ribbon.
We cut out wood, painted them, had photos with each soldiers name, DOB, DOD and where KIA. The markers were made by us a week prior. We grid and placed 1800 head stones for our military murdered in the illegal invasion in Iraq and war in Afghanistan. Goldstar Families for Peace, many Veterans against war, a few of us Pinks and tourists visiting Independence Hall, viewed these grave markers with deference and respect, tears from Moms and Dads, sisters and brothers, strangers wept with the knowledge of what bush has made to pass.
What you do not understand is Paul sets up, shows up, his followers never shut up and they were not supposed to be there, we said not a word. That many white people at the same time in one place in Philly, not a good sign for them, Paul's people?, the women had 4 and 5 children each, left them unattended to run amok through, what was in essence a graveyard, adults took shortcuts through the tombstones, hopping over them as if life never had any value and Mr. Paul, well, not for a nano-second did he pay his respects. The White supremacists, were very lucky they were at between 5th and 6th on Market, or BYE-BYE.
You will hear Taps being played, Bill head guy, from our Vet group, he was too intent on grieving for what had happened, is happening and will continue to happen, war. As for Paul, go home, Philly doesn't put up with that, Philly cops are on our side not Paul and his entranced group of racially pure followers. Anti-war, anti-choice, pro-gun, anti just about anything rational. The only positive thing he offers is an immediate withdrawal of troops, that's it.
And to all of the above what those white markers were, if you even noticed, in that JO's video was what that bologna was about, not Paul, Not the scum KKK wannabe's, the murdered kids. If you wanted you all could have helped us pull up 1800 grave markers, pack up the Peace Ribbon and then you would have known what it was REALLY about.
Thanks Peace

Alternet is to be commended for posting the article. Especially during these current times, there's a perceptible and very worrisome atmosphere developing in the country, one charged with extreme ultra-nationalism, chauvinism and anarchist zealousness. Hopefully, readers will consider carefully the potentialities of populism in its various forms, positive AND negative when seeking political and economic "solutions" to the actual dis-array we find our selves in. Thanks Alternet! There are such outcomes as tyrannies of majorities.

Ron Paul is a Strict Constitutionalist which means you oppose the Federal Government intruding into many areas including defining marriage. Paul will get us out of Iraq, return civil liberties. Hillary will get us into more wars. Hillary has Rupert Murdoch's support - not someone we want in the White House. The more TRUTH you know about Paul, (As opposed to this PROPAGANDA), the more likely you are to join a meet-up group and support him!

Could you imagine if Fox News talked about communists and the murders perpetrated by Joseph Stalin every time a Democrat spoke?

You're just one of these whiny, shriller-than-thou folks who thinks saying something louder makes it more valid.

the Plan A of ignoring him fails. More evidence that the country has been ruled by a Bush/Cheney dynasty for the last 30 years.

Mel Gibson's father's endorsement? is this post a joke? My neighbor's ex-boyfriend threw her cat out the window, and he supports Kucinich. relevant, nay. Also, I thought Brave New Films had access to @ minimum a decent macbook. This clip looks like it was pieced together by a mediocre high school sophomore pulling his research from his weekend USAToday subscription. Give me a camera and I could probably find a racist pedophilic UFO specialist at an Obama rally. I expected more from Alternet than a bunch of clowns skipping down the street with hawkish corporatocrats and their military/pharmaceutical sponsors. Save your energy for Guiliani.

This is the lowest pile of cow flop Alternet has produced so far. The movie with the retarded text supposedly exposing Ron Paul's real thoughts should be in the dictionary next to strawman.

Unsupported drivel like this is REALLY denigrating a website that once had some interesting articles to offer. Sloppy, childish, and unprofessional. The only way this article and video could have been worse is if you had tried to tie Ron Paul to the rise of mysoginist
gonzo porn, but I guess you want to build up to that.

I'll never be able to trust any information included on Alternet without several corroborating sources ever again.

These attacks are starting to look more like grasping at straws. Did you notice there was no logical bridge between Texas and Paul's Congressional district?

From the Kansas City Star, November 16:

"Paul, 72, is also the runaway favorite for re-election to Congress in his district, where the old "LBJ law" allows him to run for president and for Congress simultaneously. Democrats are so used to losing to him that they haven't even fielded a candidate yet, and probably won't."

What is this guy's appeal other than ending the war which the left would also do. His "strict constitutionalism" would eliminate the notion of penumbrss so our privacy would be legislated out of existance by the far right and the courts couldn't appeal to the US Constitution to fight it.

Economically, he's far more for the rich than George W. Bush. That is unless, of course, you're a wingnut goldbug and believe that the Rothchilds are still alive and secretly printing money someplace. It's never actually explained why a Banker would want to cause inflation. Why would bankers destroy their only real asset, money?

As Buffalo Springfield once said, "Paranoia strikes deep."
