This post, written by Manila Ryce, originally appeared on The Largest Minority

John Edwards says there are “two Americas”. He’s almost correct. Though there is indeed a huge economic gap between rich and poor, the greater disparity is between the people and their so-called representative government. Public support and political support are so incongruent on issues like the war, health care, the environment, government spending, and impeachment that it’s all too obvious whose interests congress is really looking out for.

The vast majority of Americans have been in favor of impeaching Vice President Cheney for quite some time. The recent attempt to kill Kucinich’s impeachment resolution earlier this week was nothing less than an attempt to kill democracy; to kill the voice of the American people. And that economic gap Edwards talks about? It too would cease to exist if we had real representation. Once again, that small percentage at the top has decided not to listen to us because they claim to know better than we do what is best for their party… oops, I mean what is best for the country.

Check out the video to your right of Dennis Kucinich on Amy Goodman's Democracy Now! for more.

To think that the Democraps have no spine is to suggest that they have had one in the past. When dealing with this administration we have seen, since last Novembers elections, a total lack of ethical standards on matters representing the will of the governed. The people believe, at least 54% do, that it is time to end this administrations attack on the Constitution, rule of law and torture. Lying to invade a sovereign nation, kill over 1,000,000 innocent civilians and have over 3,800 of our finest young warriors murdered for the greed of these neo-cons must end before we see them lie us into another unjustifiable war.

crying in the wilderness. Thank goodness for Kucinich. He is, perhaps, the only member of Congress who is willing to put it up front and before the American people. He isl, perhps, the only one doing what he was elected to do -- serve the people, and uphold the constitution.

... but why aren't Kuchinich's articles of impeachment getting more traction? Too many Americans parked in front of television sets I'm afraid, just where Congress wants them. It's worrisome, troubling, anxiety-invoking.

Who knows if they read their email, but if you google "house judiciary committee" you will find their website and a "contact judiciary" link. Maybe if they hear from the tens (hundreds?) of thousands of citizens who are fed up, they might realize that inaction is not an option.

An Open Letter To Tim Russert --

Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
My wife and I have been watching your show for many years and have generally found you to be one of the best political interviewers on television. However, a couple of things you have done recently have disturbed us and, in our opinion, reflect badly on the otherwise honorable reputation of your long-running show on MSNBC.

First, we thought that your attempt to embarrass Representative Dennis Kucinich, by asking about his unidentified flying object experience during the last Democratic debate, was simply quite beneath you. Now, we have noted that you are proclaiming that you will only be interviewing "major" candidates on your show and that this will not include Dennis -- in spite of the fact that you have had Senators Dodd and Bidden on your show and that the most recent New Hampshire poll showed that Kucinich was polling ahead of both of these gentlemen. On top of that, it seems that with Dennis attempting to impeach the Vice President of the United States -- you would find this historic event important enough to eagerly seek an interview with him on behalf of ALL Americans who are concerned for our nation's current state of deteriorating affairs!

I am urging you to reverse your agenda and include some respectful air time on your show for Mr. Kucinich. If you don't, well ... my wife and I will have to assume that you have become part of the General Electric, corporate controlled, media machine and sadly -- NOT WORTHY OF ANY MORE OF OUR VIEWING TIME.

Sincerely,

Terry Sneller

Representative Kucinich is the only Democratic candidate who has steadfastly and courageously stood by the oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the U.S. Ignore "image". Ignore the polls. Ignore the MSM's efforts to ridicule this true patriot. D.K. has the qualities that we need in a president.

When it shall be said in any country in the world, 'My poor are happy; neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am the friend of its happiness': when these things can be said, then may that country boast of its constitution and its government.

You can tell the political wheat from the chaff by seeing who cares about the above. It ain't Hilary. And it never was Cheney-Bush.

IMPEACH NOW

There's no better time than now to hold criminals accountable for their deeds, including those criminals that are running this country. These maniacs need to pay for their crimes against us and the world. They have done so much damage to this country, I'm not sure we'll ever recover. This is not the time to wait. Two years IS a long time and given what they've done already, another two years could be disastrous. If there's any chance this country can regain even a portion of what it has lost, now is the time. So many lives, so much money, so much of our reputation - all gone. Never think it can't get any worse because it can and will as long as these insane people are making the decisions and deceiving all of us. Speak up and against those who trod on our constitution and strip us of our rights. Hold them accountable for their misdeeds.
IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY NOW - HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE - THEY ARE WAR CRIMINALS

and I will resort , if necessary, to writing his name on my ballot. If that means throwing my vote away, so be it. Pelosi threw away the Constitution (after Bush, Cheney and the Republican's trampled on it) and Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Biden and Richardson are all sell outs.
I have told every democractic fund raiser who calls or emails me to go to hell. I'll only vote for Kucinich and I'll only contribute to Kucinich's campain.
By all means, contact the Judiciary committee and tell them to support Impeachment hearings, but don't hold your breath.
Then hold a garage sale and donate the proceeds to Kucinich's campaign. Write an editorial supporting his efforts to hold this administration accountable, put a Kucinich 08 yard sign in your front yard. Go to Cafe Press and buy as many buttons as you can afford and pass them out to the people showing up for jury duty.
Last, but certainly not least, write Dennis and tell him thank you! He is the real hero that our nation so desperately needs.

Dennis Kucinich is a man of honor. He is trying his best to do the right thing-and tell the truth. This is so RARE in our government today-that people just do not know how to deal with it.

About 12 years ago I was coming out of a large grocery store by the Utah/Arizona border-a hundred miles or so from what is now called area 51.
Everyone in the parking lot was standing as if frozen-staring up at the night sky. Then I looked up-and huge weird clouds were overhead-with these THINGS coming out of them--

what saved me-from questioning my sanity or at least my eyesight-was that there were at least a hundred other people in that parking lot-who saw the same thing.
The whole town did.

That evening the radios were full of it-and laughing DJ's- until some of them went outside...and looked up. Some people chased the things in their cars.

The next morning the newspapers were trying to make it a big joke-along with official spokemen from the Military-big joke, nothing at all going on...silly people.

The entire town was shocked-and angry. SO MANY people complained-police, doctors, firemen, that slowly...the government changed it's story. OK ...they WERE doing some 'expermental' things in the sky that night. Nothing to worry about.

The truth came out. Or at least-some part of it. What ever Kucinich saw-or I saw-or thousands of other people have seen...you can be sure of one thing. We are being lied to.
About damn near everything.

A Historical Note

Bush and Cheney have now surpassed Nixonian levels of disapproval in the polls, and for good reason. They openly committed the same abuses for which the House Judiciary Committee passed articles of impeachment against Nixon (such as refusing to comply with subpoenas). They openly violated laws put into place in response to Nixon's abuses (such as the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act). They seized unconstitutional power in ways Nixon never attempted (such as by rewriting laws with signing statements). And Cheney and Bush committed far more serious crimes, including misleading the nation into war, kidnapping, torture, and murder.

No political calculation or marching orders from Nancy Pelosi should take precedence over the oath of office taken by Congress to defend the Constitution. This is a solemn oath that they are sworn to honor and to not act is not only a violation of their oath, it is a betrayal to the country and enables future presidents to commit the same high crimes and misdemeanors.

Thank you Dennis Kucinich for your courage and honesty.

We do not live in a democracy. If we want to, we must act NOW. We have been lied to and misled for so long that we are in real danger of losing our voice. Congress and the senate are not listening to us. Something is terribly wrong with our government. Google "Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars" by the Bilderberg group. They have the take over of this country down to a science. What they plan is sickening and real. Economics plays the major role, computers helped speed the process along. It will get real ugly and much worse.

"Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars" is also in William Cooper's book: "Behold the Pale House."

People need to do their own research. Our country is truly being taken over. Look at our National debt at $9 trillion. Our unions are being destroyed. There is so much more.

I will vote for Dennis Kucinich. But do our votes count? Who controls the voting machines? Who controls the media? Who controls the money? We must reach out to each other. There is power in numbers. They do want to divide and isolate us.

PASTE THE TITLE into your brower to fill out a form that will simultaneously voice your support for Kucinich's impeachment bill (HR 333) to (1) your senators & representative; (2) John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee which now has the bill for consideration; (3) all 39 committee members; (4) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD); (5) the newspaper of your choice; and (6) any friends and relatives you want to make aware of this.

If you make comments, they will go as a letter to the editor of the newspaper you chose. Probably better to write your own letter as I doubt a newspaper will accept a letter from a website.

Only a moron would see even a fraction of the irrefutable factual information of the bushies manifold crimes readily available and not come to the inescapable conclusion that we're being royally screwed over by a criminal gang, and that SOMETHING MUST BE DONE, AND SOON. "Congress" doesn't seem interested in doing anything to stop the bush crime spree, so they've either been bought off or they're so stupid and incompetent that they're just taking up space instead of doing the job they were hired for. If they continue to do NOTHING about the bushies, then the bushies will retire in splended affluence and luxury with the money they've stolen from the American people.

sometimes we get stories about ghosts. Many years ago my mother was driving her brother down the Alleghney mountains of Pennsylvania in the dark of night.

She was taken aback by a ghostly figure on horseback riding across the road. My uncle turned to her and said, "Did you see that?".

All hearsay of course.

Who will invade the US to take down our dictators?

Much of the rest of the world has recognized for some time the crimes of the Bush administration. I often wonder why no world leader has suggested invading the US to remove from power the dictatorial madmen with proven WMDs who have usurped power and are oppressing their own citizens while threatening the rest of the civilized world. Certainly, there's a clear precedent now for that kind of pre-emptive action.

And if we don't impeach these madmen ourselves--and soon--perhaps such a thing will eventually have to happen.

Kucinich --- "take a stand to secure our democracy ONCE AGAIN"
Posted by: amacd on Nov 12, 2007 6:03 PM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Almost at the end of this interview video I was amazed and hopeful when Kucinich said something no other candidate is saying:

"... take a stand to secure our democracy ONCE AGAIN".

In saying this publicly Kucinich is strongly alluding to a truth which no other cnadiddtate will touch ---- that our democracy is gone, replaced by Empire, and needs to be secured ONCE AGAIN.

To secure our democracy "once again", to 'restore' our democracy, to fight to 'regain' our democracy. These statement are the simple truth that only Kuncinich is leveling with the American people about.

The plain fact is that our democracy is now gone --- G O N E, stolen by the global corporatist (fascist) Empire behind this facade of 'Vichy America'.

All this Bush BS and the Democrats acceptance of foreign policy talk about 'freedom promotion', 'democracy agenda', and 'freedom celebrations' is just so much Orwellian double speak and propaganda by both 'Vichy' parties, their lacky 'Vichy' MSM, and the "Vichy' looters on Wall Street.

Kucinich is the only candidate who is preparing the American people for the real fight ahead to "secure our democracy ONCE AGAIN".

As I have long stated:

“As American people, we will very soon and very surprisingly be faced with recognizing and confronting the fact that we no longer live in either a supposedly ‘exceptional’ country, or even a normal country. We will be faced with the reality that we live in a virtual “Vichy America” which has been fully taken over by a guileful and disguised global Empire ---- just as France in WWII had been taken over by the Nazi Empire which installed the faux government referred to as Vichy France.”

“The very most important question that the American people should be asking any candidate for president in ‘08 is not, “Where do you stand on the war?”, but, “Where do you stand on the EMPIRE that has taken over our country --- an Empire of which the combination of war in Iraq, the violation of the Constitution, and the destruction of our human economy are only the biggest and most visible crimes --- so far.”

Kucinich is the only candidate who is preparing the American people for this reality, and will help lead us to confront the Empire.

Where have all the Democrats gone?
Posted by: Basenjis on Nov 12, 2007 6:27 PM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The Democratic Party of my youth has morphed into something I no longer recognize. When I think of outstanding Democrats down through the years, I think Dennis Kucinich is the most like the real thing. Maybe he is even better than some of the best from any era.

There were once dozens and dozens of principled people like Kucinich in both houses of Congress. They were Democratic stalwarts, bright, articulate, inspired--and gutsy enough to get done what the country needed to have done. They helped make the nation envied and admired by the outside world. I can't imagine where they have all gone.

When Franklin Roosevelt took over the oval office, he inherited a country so broken and down on its luck that people lived in fear of their children having to go to bed hungry and cold. The country was full of able-bodied men hitching rides on the trains hoping against hope to find a job, any kind of job, in the next town. In the end they would settle for a handout to fill their empty stomachs. I remember my mother handing steaming bowls of soup to hungry men from the back door stoop.

Roosevelt infuriated his own wealthy peers by instituting innovative programs to put people to work, restoring the country's self-confidence by helping it to pull itself up by its own bootstraps. He so endeared himself to a grateful country that his actions built the Democratic Party into a mighty force to reckon with.

I wonder where all those Democrats have gone. What we are left with today are registered Democrats who have no idea how to be a Democrat. We have slid so far to the right that there isn't another inch more to go. What passes for a Democrat today would not even have made a good Conservative once as even the Nixon Republicans were further to the left than today's Democrats. They, for example, would never have dreamed of messing with social security and they allowed a safety net to exist for the down and out. How outrageously radical!

If we want to see a true Democrat in the White House after the next election, the field gets pretty narrow. It cancels out about half of the Democratic candidates, yet we still have some choices. I believe Bill Richardson is a much better possibility than his rather clumsy efforts at debating reveal. I believe John Edwards is an even better possibility and would surprise a lot of skeptics. And, there's always Dennis Kucinich who always puts his finger on the real problems and always seems to come up with the right answers. What more could we ask?
