The laughter could have rocked a city block when we at BNF heard that FOX was launching a business channel called FBN, an anagram of BNF!

Since we are among the precious few who have watched FOX business shows, from Neil Cavuto to the "Cost of Freedom," we know what a joke the so-called business coverage is. Melanie at the News Hounds has documented the coverage for years. Paris Hilton, strippers, sex diaries -- all critical business functions.

Last week, they put a teaser video on their website. It was time to get to business and mock it with our own improved version.

Assault your weary eyes, have a good laugh and then enter the first ever BNF FBN contest.

PITCH US YOUR BEST FOX BUSINESS STORY

Like: Paris Hilton indicted for securities fraud or: O.J. Simpson eats dinner at an expensive restaurant. Should he get a discount?

Have the best story of all, I don't have to put up with FBN or any other 'unfair' and 'unbalanced' programming from FOX, I don't subscribe to cable so am spared that rot on my TV. Besides, I don't need them to tell me which way the wind isn't blowing. I can easily depend on BNF videos to tell which way it does.

But I suppose I'm unlucky too, because that admission cancels my ability to enter the contest.

However, I have seen and showed my friends Outfoxed.org and several other BNF works as well as videos I find in their newsletters and YouTube subscription. However, would love to have the box set. Would donate it to my local library so more people could have access.

Good luck to all who qualify; and peace in all its dimensions.

Where is the discussion of why this is the kind of coverage Fox puts out?

Anything that FOX touches is biased and distorted unless one of its many saviors like Rush (the fart) Limbaugh, (Hot Air balloon) Hannity, cris (the wimp) Wallace, Laura(the sleeze) Ingram, Bill(the family values Socrates) Bennett, Ann(the big fat liar) Coulter etc says it is great. Until then, don't bother.

Alas, my local library would burn anything that smacked of moderate politics, let alone liberal. Best I not win.

Still, I can try to furnish a context for the FBN.

The neocon ideologues are perfectly aware that deregulating markets and bailing out losers, which constitute their central financial policies, lead not to more competition but to more consolidation. Crony capitalism is all about monopolies: building them, maintaining them, enriching them, protecting them.

The FBN's role in all of this is to distract attention from this consolidation or, at least, paint a rosy glow around it.

Thus you will see pundits lauding mergers and acquisitions, except in cases where the acquirer isn't politically in bed with the neocons. Yay for Carlisle Group. But if, say, Google angles for monopoly power through acquisitions, Fox will be on their case with blatant fear-mongering. (I'm not arguing one or the other is worse, only predicting how it will be spun.)

Every economic downturn will be the result of liberal politicians, no matter who happens to occupy the White House and Congress. Every company plundered beyond its ability to survive is a national emergency requiring bailing it out. Every economic success is a clarion call for more deregulation.

The distraction element will dominate. Their coverage of business will be largely indistinguishable from their cover of sleazy celebrities, with laurels and thorns handed out based on political implications. Martha Stewart plunders the markets? Stop picking on the poor woman. Elon Musk wants to sell electric cars? What an idiot.

The ultimate FBN story would probably arrive if Blackwater is ever indicted for multiple labor violations, falisfying documents, weapons smuggling, extortion, kidnapping, murder, bribery, fraud, and obstructing justice. No doubt they'll interview every wingnut they can get their hands on to "prove" that all of the charges are politically motivated.

Alas, that story isn't even remotely funny.

In "Catch-22" Milo contracts with the germans to bomb his own base. In that entrepreneurial spirit, blackwater merges with the taliban. "Blacktal" (pronounced blacktail) industries is formed.
