As we've reported earlier, Giuliani supporters are holding a $9.11 a head event to raise money for his 2008 campaign in a crass attempt to cash in on the most infamous event in his background. In the clip to your right Keith Olbermann and writer Jonathan Alter from Newsweek discuss the fallout or lack thereof from this action.

"I think the Onion had it right," Alter concluded. "He's running to be president of 9/11. Nobody who's been a mayor, Keith, has ever gone directly from mayor to president. ... His springboard is this tragic event, this horrible attack on this country, and there's something that's just a little bit tasteless about trying to do that."

Guiliani has built a career on 11-Sept and draconian 'crime fighting' measures.

The only election Guiliani should win the US Magazine People's Choice award for most resemblence to Nosferatu in the classic 1922 movie of the same name.

Guiliani, through his lawfirm, consultancy companies, and elected positions have benefitted and profited from 11-Sept. He has 'advised' governments in such diverse cities as London and Mexico City. He has facilitated the "privatisation" of government fuctions, roads, and facilities. He has abandoned firemen, police, and others hurt in 11-Sept. He has links to organised crime and his former chief of staff has been indicted....

If you think the $9.11 fundraiser was tasteless, have you ever seen Rudy in drag singing "Happy Birthday to You, Mr. President?"

... he goes and pulls a stunt like this.

I hope and pray the Republicans nominate him as their champion. The man is a genius at this sort of thing. He will lead the Republicans to the promised land that they have earned themselves.

had been an effective leader and LEAD the country instead of hiding in his bunker. Rudy was only of interest to our lazy, ineffective media because he was AVAILABLE, not because he was any kind of leader. Ask those of us who live near NYC-we know what a piece of sh-t this man really is. But then he IS a Republican-aren't they all?

i'm shocked he hasn't set up his own 'ripleys' display of pickled 9-11 victims (only $9.11, come see ground zero heroes as they lived and died). tasteless man with one dimension and no credentals and criminal friends. who needs ya, rudy? nobody.

Giuliani tasteless??

Attaching tasteless to Giuliani is a clear case of redundancy. He needs to take that shitfaced grin of his and retire under the rock from which he crawled after he decided that he alone stabilized New York after 9/11. What a pompous ass!
Where does America find these despicable phonies to play at being leaders.
Using the tragedy of 9/11 has to represent a new low even for politicians who would drown their own mothers to get elected.
Between Giuiliani and "magic underwear" Romney its hard to decide who is the worst. But then, doesn't voting for the lesser of two evils pretty much describe American politics?
God help us---and the fact that he won't, illustrates that he's on permanent vacation somewhere, as more and more people are beginning to realize. Wake up America! We can do better than this!

The removal of debris and structural steel from the 911 crime scene, in direct violation of federal statutes which specify that FEMA investigate an intact scene? Is this not a coverup of the REAL nature of the crime. Doesn't this make Rudy a criminal?

...whaddya expect. Absolutely despicable, self-serving and repugnant. As a former New Yorker now living in Ohio I detest the man who made New York City safe for oversized SUV-style baby carriages, hedge fund studs and Sex in the City sluts while simultaneously running out all of the freaky, talented artists and musicians that gave NYC its edgy street cred. Sure, it weren't safe for families but that's why many of us were there in the first place--to get away from ours. Heil, Rudolf.

Gulianni=tasteless piece of shit

Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
If only Gulianni had died on 9/11. At least then we would be spared the shock of how tasteless and low this piece of shit is.
How can anyone use this tragic event for their own political, egotistical gains? Oh I forgot; he's an American politician. Only that kind of scum could dream up this kind of stunt. How far can he get his nose up the devil's anus? That piece of turd deserves to rot in hell. He is worse than the terrorists. At least they had the guts to die for something (albeit a crazy deluded reason.) Gulianni is a cowardly, quivering, greedy, selfish, self-centered, rotting jism stain. But he's an American, so no surprises there. Why doesn't he do something productive and go to Iraq and die?

The obvious is that Guiliani is not a desirable candidate, that's preaching to the choir. How about the "short leash" comments about the former major and his wife? These comments are a dead giveaway that the people speaking are ignorant of the basic understanding of how the voting population relates to the candidates. I can't be the only one to notice this...?

Giuliani has NO CLASS!
Posted by: itzamirakul on Sep 29, 2007 3:36 AM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Giuliani has no class based on the way he publicly humiliated his wife TWICE, first, with his on-staff girlfriend who refused to allow mayoral wife, Donna Hanover to even talk to her husband when she called City Hall. When he tired of that piece of trash, he married off said publicity woman to some rich guy and got her an enormously well-paying, permanent job as the head of Tourism in NYC.

Then he took up with low-class Judy and paraded her trashy ass around NYC as he demonstrated his philandering quite openly and publicly to the residents of this city. Then he informed his wife Donna Hanover that he was leaving her AT A PRESS CONFERENCE! This low-life pig deserves the same treatment that he has dished out to his wife and to the citizens of this city who he harmed.

Does anyone remember that during the after-math of 911, Giuliani forbade picture-taking at the site and had police officers confiscating cameras? Or that the Mafia, which he supposedly put under control here in NYC, has had a hand in all parts of the disbursement of the Tower's debris to prevent any examination of the material?

Most New Yorkers detest Giuliani. His own children won't support him, for God's sake. Doesn't that fact alone tell these blind, racist, hate-filled conservatives and Republicans that this man is not fit to be the local dog-catcher, let alone POTUS.
