Why Is Hillary Laughing So Hard?

We likely won't see Clinton let loose with her now famous guffaw tonight. The target will be the frontrunner.

Clinton has been solid and steady in each of her debate performances, and her national standing doesn't allow her to be redefined easily in the space of 90 minutes.

"I think it's pretty clear if you've watched the debates so far, she's not going to make many mistakes," Elmendorf said.

"You can't hope she's going to stumble, so you've got to try and tear her down."

Clinton delivered a tour de force political performance on Sunday managing to do all five shows without getting hit or making news, minus her calculated slap at MoveOn.org, which was unnecessary. But there was one thing consistent throughout that was quite different from any of the males running against her. Segue to Clinton's Fox "News" Sunday appearance.

WALLACE: Senator, talk about conservative hit jobs, right-wing conspiracies -- why do you and the president have such a hyper-partisan view of politics?

(LAUGHTER)

H. CLINTON: Well, Chris, if you had walked even a day in our shoes over the last 15 years, I'm sure you'd understand. ... ..

I would have laughed at that question too. I would have also laughed at this one as well.

WALLACE: Senator Clinton, we're going to have to leave it there. We want to thank you so much for joining us today. Don't be a stranger, and please send my best to the president.

(LAUGHTER)

H. CLINTON: I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that, Chris. Thank you.

But there were a lot of giggles in between and beyond Fox "News". Now I'm aware that among people who know Clinton her sense of humor is supposed to be a big part of the package, as is her expansive guffaw. I've got one myself. However, Stewart nails her in his monologue. Clinton's giggle has obviously become a tool for candidate Clinton to use to disarm her critics. But a little dose will do ya.

Digg!

Why does Alternet constantly attack Hillary but then offer up praise for Edwards?

Hillary / Move On The gifts that keeps on giving!

I as a Republican was concerned about Obamanation. He is articulate, handsome, well groomed and takes a page from Bill I was impeached Clinton on how to answer a question without saying a thing. But now Shrillery has a huge lead in the polls over Obamanation. 40% of the USA refuse to even consider voting for Shrillery.
Once she is nominated the actions of the Move On org will discust the swing voters, driving them like cattle to the Republicans.
I like what I see.

Let's hope the MSM doesn't latch onto that as a moronic topic.

Yet I do find her laughs annoying-- they seem over the top, calculated, manipulative and even bizarre. Nixon had a couple of clever and manipulative mannerisms such as not answering questions by blathering around the question (which Hillary is also expert at), the famous 'let me be clear about this' followed by ambiguity, Reagan had the fake sincere strong tone, Bill Clinton the trademark 'I feel your pain' empathy. If this is HRC's attempt at charm, she isn't a graduate of charm school. It certainly seemed to stop Chris Wallace in his tracks, so bravo there.

i think, however, it was the brownies bill had baked.

that it diminished the questioner, yes. a score over the attack media that exists today.

Still bad policies, but she sounds better delivering them.

I have noticed that Hillary has improved her public speaking voice tremendously, no doubt with the help of a voice coach. Good for her - now she needs to work on that laugh. (And her policies.)

I'm not a Hillary fan, but I applaud her willingness to improve herself. If only Al Gore had worked on his wooden speaking style, or John Kerry had gone to the trouble to tone down his stentorian delivery, the world would be a lot better - or at least a lot less awful.

Anyone who listened to John Edwards' speech at the Harkin steak fry will realize that he stands head and shoulders above the others in substance as well as presentation.

I was reluctant to vote for her before, but now I'm considering it. Why?

Because we need people with a sense of humor -- it is a mark of intelligence. And the laughter was a brilliant, brilliant way to point out how ridiculous the questions are.

In 2004, we were crying when Shrub was re-elected. Hillary -- you can laugh your way all the way to the White House -- and we'll be laughing right alone with you!!!

She just can't win. We want her to show humor and when she does we talk about her guffaws (she does not giggle). Personally, I am more interested in what she says (or does not say). I am particularly disappointed in her continued support for health INSURANCE for all and not health CARE for all and the continued support for this insanity we call the Iraq war.

I have actually read Hillary's Healthcare initiatives, and She really has made a great decision to bring Healthcare to the American Public. How cool! The fact that she can laugh at her critics is charming, and shows just how tenured she is, and comfortable in her skin!
The fact that she CAN laugh, really is a sign of intelligence that is OH SO LACKING at times in America.

Yay Hillary!

I have to admit that if her "jolly" nature during that day of interviews wasn't a deliberate part of marketing herself, then I have to wonder whether she found some of Bill's old stash from College and decided to light a fat one before she made the rounds....???
