It's taken this long for people to figure out that Bush doesn't give a flying crap about anyone other than his inner circle of friends & his outer circle of big business associates -- his upper class peers? Why are Americans so enamored with words when actions are a clearer indicator of intention?? It has amazed me since the Nixon Administration that anyone with less than a $million in the bank would even tune in to the Republicans. GET A CLUE -- THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. They only want your vote so they can pick your pocket and give your cash to their real friends. Do you think the Religious Right is starting to feel USED at all?? Bush and his friends talk about Christian values, then stop off at a whore house before sending more Christian kids off to kill and be killed. They even hint that it's a Holy War to make it more palatable to the Christians. Holy OIL that is! Coveting, killing and adultery -- not very Christian, if I remember their rulebook correctly. "Love one another", including poor people and brown people? Do you see any indication that Bush and his cronies have ever lived by those values? So why would it be a surprise that they wouldn't take care of poor, black New Orleans after the hurricane? Or ever?

That it took a nervous ,angry, young man to speak the truth while others in position of power remained silent speaks volumes about who cares. Mr West knew what the risks where, before he spoke but he spoke ,anyway. Wish the lamestream media and our newly elected congress had that kind of s courage.

it did take courage after the attack on the dixie chicks it took them a long time to recover, but their recovery maybe made it less a hugh act of courage, maybe.
there are a lot of us not speaking out when we get the chance , with co workers and others we encounter.

when we ALL step up and speak the truth. until then, they can dismiss us and our contrary views. at present we are merely a disorganized lot of dissenters, dissenters who see and speak the truth, but unless we all do a howard beale, nothing will change - until they start jailing us. then those who are left, who did not stand up, will see how important it was to say it out loud, and then ACT.

before he spoke out about George Bush at the Katrina event. I know that what the brother did took a lot of balls and I have tremendous respect for him doing it. I may never buy one of his CD's, but I'll definitely take note of what he has to say whenever I catch him on TV or the internet.

As for Mike Meyers, he was shocked by what Kanye did and I think he was doing his best to keep his mouth shut until he could digest what was going on, usually a smart move. And as someone else said here on the blog, he's Canadian, he's got things to consider that Americans don't in that situation.
