Griffin pokes fun at the absurdity of athletes and performers thanking Jesus at awards shows and the uproar over her own remarks.

Kathy Griffin was on with Larry King last night and was, naturally, hilarious as all get out. Larry King also, credit due him, showed the complete uncensored version of Kathy's Emmy acceptance speech. Once you see it, and see how totally silly she's being with it, it's even more unimaginable that it was censored or that anyone could have missed its purpose (which Kathy confirms was indeed a comment on the whole "thank God if we win; blame the quarterback if we lose" thing). Anyway, her appearance is below in two three parts. The transcript is here, and thanks again to Petulant for the video.

Way to piss off the squares. I hope people keep offending them, so they'll spend all their money on ads saying how offended they are. I think Jesus had a sense of humor. He definitely had a rebellious streak, and was always offending the squares. I have a question then: If part of your position is to defend others' beliefs (very laudable, by the way) then why is it that your Christian brethren here in the Central Valley of California are being told, from the pulpit, that those who believe teachings other than the ones outlined in Evangelical Christian teachings are, and I quote: "Going to Hell"? They were something that finally had to be said in lieu of the thousand of Jesus thankers. Is she not entitled to voice her FAITH that Jesus did not have anything to do with winning the award? Who would know better than her? She probably did not PRAY to win in the first place, which would disqualify her from His help anyway. Maybe she also realizes that Jesus does not wake up and go through His day's agenda where somewhere in that agenda He has to pick an Emmy winner. Pretty silly when you think about it. That is the REAL joke here. That a God sits where ever Gods sit and picks winners of athletic events, etc. Second of all how do you offend a myth? There is little to no evidence for Jesus' existence and definitely NO evidence for His divinity. AND there is DEFINITELY NO evidence for a God of any kind, period.
