My love/hate relationship with Bill Maher fluctuates wildly from episode to episode. Though I love his politically incorrect sense of humor and the fact that he provides a forum for people with differing views to debate, I do hate his scapegoat arguments and constant contradictions. Still, last weekend's Real Time with Bill Maher was a classic episode, mostly due to the always charismatic Mos Def, whose off the cuff bluntness drew applause and laughter in juxtaposition to Maher's counterproductive defense of the establishment.

Defending the establishment

In what way does Bill Maher "defend the establishment?" Believing that the 9/11 attacks were the work of Al-Qaeda hardly qualifies as defending the establishment.

Sorry, author, you called this wrong. I could listen to West and Def all day. Def tells it like it is...like the man on the street sees it and West explains it's context. I thought that was brilliant and a beautiful display of the kind of things I WISH television provided us.

Well, a very interesting question is...

... how do we even know Osama Bin Laden even exists.. except that an untrustworthy government who we know has lied time after time and been mistaken time after time says he does?

Nevermind the fact that the Taliban/Mujihadiin/Al Queda actually got their start with, of all things, US involvement in Afghanistan.

I'm not saying I know anything for certain... but there is far too much coming from a government I trust very little (for good and obvious reason) that makes far too little sense about far too many issues for me to necessarily believe whatever they tell me.

Many important people in the Middle east attended his funeral. It was in the foreign press. France reported it and other middle east papers talked about who attended the funeral. I am laughing cause I can't believe how we here don't get any real news at all. I always go to the foreign press if I want to know what is going on here.

Bill is surprisingly ignorant, isn't he.

After this last video releast of some guy calling himself Bin Laden, it didn't take but 2 seconds for EVERYONE TO GET THAT THIS WAS NOT BIN LADEN..... YOU MEAN THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO THINK IT WAS HIM???? LOL I am shocked.

He and the war on terror are our new cold war boogie men used to support the 1984 perpetual war scenario for greed and profit and enslavement. Gee whiz, it doesn't take an intellectual giant to "see" it. This does surprise me about Bill.

WITH THE MIND OF BILL MAHER,HOW CAN HE BE SO NAIVE?

Rarely do I listen to Bill Maher because his mind is saturated with four letter wprds that I believe block out the full intelligence that he may have.
And his conclusions on the 911 attacks are downright foolish. However, one must take into account that this blatant lie may be one of his requirements for staying on the air.
THE 911 ATTACKS WERE AN INSIDE JOB! iT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REPEAT THE FACTS TO "THOSE IN THE KNOW". What do you think of Bill Maher having one of the heroes of that horrible day, William Rodriguez on his show. Rodriguez has been on C-Span several times so why not Bill Maher's show?

Def "disbelieves" uncritically. Sometimes he's on the mark, but not concerning the moonshots? We certainly did go to the moon. His disbelief in this area, merely give his detractors ammunition against him, to destroy his credibility in those areas where he's accurately uncovered genuine, realworld conspiracies.
