Bill Maher on The Surge, Election '08 and "Naughty Boy" Larry Craig [VIDEO]

Posted by Adam Howard at 11:51 AM on September 5, 2007.

Maher sounds off on who he'd hate to see become president and how silly this whole surge nonsense is.

Maher: “…We’ve all had layovers in airports and there’s just really very little to do. You know the news stand is closed, the Cinnabon is closed, you have three hours to kill, the flights get delayed - you gotta have some sex in the bathroom, Chris.”

In the video to your right Bill Maher does a first-rate job of pointing out how pointless "the surge" is and how Fred Thompson is just another Bush clone trying to convince us that fighting terrorists is simplistic and doesn't require in-depth thinking. Why is this man's laziness and lack of intellectual curiosity being celebrated, Maher wonders.

Check out this clip from Hardball for more.

This is a really good interview.

Maher is spot-on about quite a few things here. Even Chris Matthews comes across as half-way intelligent.

Still, I would never want to be interviewed by Matthews--except maybe by satellite or behind plexiglass--because he appears to spit a lot when he talks.

"Why is this man's laziness and lack of intellectual curiosity being celebrated", Maher wonders.

I know that I'm no deep thinker but I think I also know that Bill Maher, at times, thinks things through only to the point of finding something that he thinks will make his viewers laugh. He is certainly a deeper thinker than Thompson or Bush but he's no __________ (insert your favorite world leader here).

Now, here's some REAL irony as I spit my own vitriol at Bill Maher who I think is a bit mean spirited seeking laughs at the expense of constructive dialogue. (sorry, was that a joke at Bill Maher's expenser?) ( It certainly wasn't constructive!!)

To paraphrase Mathew's closing,' Maher's show touches on things we (MSM) wouldn't dare.' Appalling! Isn't it the busineness of journalists to dare to print or say what we, the people, need to know? A most revealing comment about the state of American news reporting, today.

COMPARED TO SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN LEADING US DURING THE LONGEST, ALMOST SEVEN YEARS OF MY LIFE. (The last six months have seemed like 10 years.)

1-20-09 WILL BE A GREAT DAY.
