Olbermann Re-Enacts Senator Craig's Bathroom Scene [VIDEO]

Posted by Adam Howard at 6:34 AM on August 30, 2007.

Sticking directly to the script (police report) of Senator Craig’s public restroom encounter with an undercover police officer, Keith re-enacts (in classic “Dragnet” style) what transpired that fateful day back in June.

In a completely silly but definitely amusing segment from Keith Olbermann's "Countdown", Olbermann reads the police report of the Larry Craig incident in the style of the old "Dragnet" TV show while actors (the one playing Craig wheres a ridiculous wig) act out what has now become an infamous scene. "No actual senators were harmed in the making of this film," says Olbermann. The GOP is in total disarray, the late night comedians have (of course) seized onto this story and despite GOP calls for him to resign, Craig seems stubbornly unwilling to do so. So the fun continues...

Is there something about running for public office that attracts.....

.... these perverts???? Or is it the legal profession that does it since most of them are lawyers???? Has anybody done a study so we can ferret out these guys before voting??? WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY WITH THESE WEIRDOS RUNNING OUR GOVERNMENT?

I wish someone would do a study as to why this phenomena is occuring...... it appears we have more male prostitutes (thats what he is when he is soliciting sex from someone) in congress than out on the streets of DC. Maybe they are just trying to get in from the cold and decide to run for congress to ensure a warm place to conduct their sicko business.....

Makes ya wonder about the lobbyists now, huh?

family values

Gee, I sure am glad that we elected the family values crowd, otherwise we might have sex scandals, lobbist payoffs,be bogged down in a hopeless costly war, which would keep us from having healthcare, rebuilding of our aging infrastructure, and having the best schools in the world.. Family values to me is feeding and housing the poor and helpless, health care for all, keeping factories in America to have jobs. I really thought that that also is a part of compassion. This , of course, not the first time that they have takern a good word to hide behind (clear water and clean air), and turn it into action

This is not an act of perversion - Craig problem is hypocracy

A closeted gay man soliciting sex in a bathroom is sad and perhaps a commentary on intolerance but it is not perverted. Craig problem is that he is gay and at the same time pursues legislation that prohibits gay rights. He fears and loathes himself so much - as he fears but wants to be caught doing what it is he did.

...gay, closeted, bigoted, Republican. What else is new? Moral of the story? NEVER let your kids alone with Republicans or Priests.

It's not so much about being gay

It's the thrill of transgression. Probably akin to the thrill of screwing people over while you're "their" representative in Washington.

Craig probably gets a woody just walking by a men's restroom and smelling the mix of pee and disinfectant that wafts from the doors. The bad place, the wicked place, the place that makes him quiver with shame and delight. Possibly his first sexual encounter occurred there. You never forget.

If cruising restrooms and anonymous sex were completely open and aboveboard there'd be a certain segment of the population who wouldn't have fun anymore.

Olbermann for President

The video is just about the best thing I have seen in a long time. No. Keith is right on the ball, but I doubt if he would want to be president, although he couldn't possibly do a worse job than the present incumbent.

GOP-land, where reality is farce

If we'd seen it on Jon Stewart, we'd say--ah Jon, another fake news story. The more surreal part of it--is the police report document from which the script came, being real. Bravo Olbermann, who'd a guessed a sports blabberer was so damn smart?

Moral of the story

The moral of this story is: don't bash gay people (including Barney Frank) label them perverts and vote against gay rights when you are gay yourself. It's very bad karma. If this guy had been honest from the beginning or even the middle for that matter, he wouldn't have faced such a barrage of criticism. Nobody likes a hippocrit.
