Chris Matthews' Creepy Frat Boy Antics [VIDEO]

Posted by Adam Howard at 6:10 AM on August 14, 2007.

What is with Chris Matthews' preoccupation with the masculinity or lack thereof of the '08 candidates. Why is this boorish moron still on the air?

Once in a blue moon, Chris Matthews makes a coherent remotely intelligent point but the rest of the time he reduces himself to a childish fanboy for the likes of John McCain or Rudy Giuliani, or he is developing new ways to be condescending and sexist about either Hillary Clinton or to his own female co-hosts. The video to your right comes from Open Left, it's a compilation of some of Matthews' most obnoxious recent on-air antics. Check it out.

Oh. My. Goddess! I can't believe that the network allowed this. At the very least, they should make him apologize. And were I this woman, I'd sue his a&& off!

It's too bad I often end up catching the last five minutes of his show because it's on before Countdown. I can think of at least a dozen times when he made extremely unprofessional comments with the intent of "joking." He thinks he's a funny guy, but he has the most banal sense of humor. I can't fathom why he's as successful as he is because he's unable to perform an interview and is not a compelling host.

There is a very long line of talking heads, dumb asses and pointless delusional hacks that wouldn't make a scab on a REAL journalists butt.
You have to wonder about those that tune in for the mountain of stinking crap served by the MSM.
Fox news stands out as the one of the worst but they aren't alone. The list goes on and on..
Tweety comes off like a dumb ass but there are others even more foul.
IE.. BillO, Hanity, Coulter, Malkin..
Freekin' Fox All Stars..
Feel free to add your worst.

This is not "masculinity"

As a man, I'm tired of "masculinity" being tied to this type of dumbass nonsense. What Matthews is obsessed with is corrupt power and sheer intolerance of women and girls (Hence, the compulsory degradation of them even when they're not on air). To say that is somehow naturally male is rather defamatory--or, at least, should be.

Compared to anything that comes out of O'Reilly's mouth, this was tame.

I've been fed up with Matthews' boy crush on George Bush for a while now. He just can't gush praise enough on W. - he's so tough, so presidential, so macho. Now he's doing the same thing with McCain and Giuliani.

I'm sick of his comments about how "small" and scrawny Edwards and Kucinich are. I wouldn't trade one Kucinich for every pseudo-macho man in Chris' precious DC clique. I'm sick of his comments about Hillary's voice being "shrill" just because it's not deep as a man's.

I actually felt sorry for Keith Olbermann because he had to work with Matthews on the debate commentary. When is MSNBC going to get rid of this sexist, pandering partisan and hire some real journalists to keep Keith company?

matthews is a good guy and a far more "balanced" journalist than anyone else in the mainstream media. he often plays devil's advocate and, (although i'm not sure about this because the clips were taken out of context,) it's possible that matthews was asking about the size of the male contenders not for his own sake, but because the brutal reality is that American voters obviously and undeniably look at stuff like that and take it pretty seriously (semi-conscious or otherwise) when considering a President. whether or not matthews subscribes to the bullshit american version of "masculinity," most of this nation and most of the nation's voters do.
