Hurray for the candidates who are appearing at the Human Rights Campaign presidential forum. Even though since the HRC makes no mention of homosexuality in its name, so few may know that it's even a "gay debate". But did they have to ask a former girlfriend of Fred Thompson to be on the panel of questioners? Check out the video to your right for more.

Rachael,

Your comments are right on! I used to donate to the HRCF and decided to stop for the reasons stated in your video. There is still so much self loathing in the gay and lesbian community, but we have come a long way. We need to take it to the next level. Let's look for a presidential candidate that will support gay marriage, no ifs, ands, or buts! Lets also look inside ourselves for all the little ways we put ourselves down. Let's change the name of our major civil rights group to include Homosexual Rights. The Advocate magazine still sends me their magazine in plastic you can't see through. The brown paper bag trick, as if it were dirty. If someone asks me my martial status, I always say I'm single, never indicating I'm single because I'm gay and my government prohibits me from marrying. These are little big ways we must change if our march forward is to continue, and I firmly believe it will!

I bet more people will see this video clip on Alternet and hear the message than those who actually heard it on Air America.

Ooookay.

Look, if it takes "not saying your name" to get average Joe American to even listen to your arguments, then maybe there isn't anything to quibble about here.

And, no! You're not bitter! Not at all!

BTW, bestof, you are quite right.

The HRC almost also excluded Gravel from the debates, even though he was one of the earliest and strongest supporters of Gay rights!
