Without Prejudice? was originally a critically acclaimed, award winning program in the UK and it has since spread to several other countries. The premise is that a group of five strangers must decide about which member of another group of five strangers should recieve a prize of $25,000. There judgements are based purely on snippets of tape they are gradually shown. The American version, hosted by Dr. Robi Ludwig, a psychotherapist and journalist who has appeared regularly on The Today Show and Headline News, will be debuting on July 17 on the Game Show Network. Here is a sneak peak at the first 11 minutes of the show. It pretty much speaks for itself.

goal. Let them say their racist, sexist, whatever stuff and then find out later that they are on camera or the purpose of the show. This is about as bad as the fake Springer shows in which all parties know that at a certain time they need to say racist stuff, show their t*ts, fight each other, etc. There are a few examples but society generally won't let tv do a decent show it because it is exploitative. There was a show filmed in Texas in which they gave houses to 'undisireable' types in a very good neighborhood. Then filmed the outcome secretly. Examples: They gave houses to a mixed-race gay couple with an adopted kid, a "goth" heavy metal type, and to some various ethnics (like a Hispanic family with many generations/children in one house). Then filmed how the neighbours were outraged, nice, hateful, friendly, or whatever to their "new neighbours'. Supposedly it had a 'happy ending' but was never aired due to lawsuits and breeches of privacy. I recall they ran commericials (a flustered businessman who comes home and there are 15 Mexican kids running all over his yard, etc.)

This is exactly what America needs. No more touchy feely BS. Get straight to the point, give the money to the person you like the most, and then hear it argued out. When we see blatant prejudice, we begin to understand its insanity, and then we will self-correct. This show will do just that. The more and more people saw the KKK the more and more they hated it.

My First Impression

Well, I formed a quick first impression of this show: stooopid! I could not believe that, based on no more than a face-shot and name introduction, guests were immediately asked to start making judgements. The intial judgements were forced, and the replies to those judgements were forced. Big lips? Tell me that wasn't a plant just to get things started! And that anyone would even dignify that first comment with anything other than "Shut up!" only indicates that this program is anything but real. I would have made a lousy guest. Guess I just don't buy into that fifteen-second-first-impression crap. There. That's my fifteen-second-first-impression of this show.

I agree! "It's not prejudice to hate a**holes because no one's born an a**hole." Since you know nothing about these people, it seems to me that the way to decide is to think of the type of people you believe pose the greatest to our society. I happen to believe that the greatest threat to our country is the influence of Christian Conservative leaders and those they dupe into voting for the "R" party (there may be children reading and I don't want to corrupt them by exposing them to the whole profane word.) Based strictly on appearances and place of residence, I believe the lady from Oklahoma is the one most likely to one be of those people and the $25,000 would most likely go to one of the organizations dedicated to establishing the Theocracy in America.

What are they being judged on? Morals, looks? I don't really understand the premise of the show. What is it supposed to be teaching?
