In the video to your right, Hillary Clinton receives some well-deserved jeers for a profoundly ignorant statement where she blames the Iraqis for our failed occupation of their country. Andre Banks wrote that it showed her intent to ride "to the White House on the white horse of racism." For weeks now Clinton has been attaching herself to this "it's the Iraqi government's fault" things are so bad in Iraq message and this seems like the first time she's been publicly called out on it. She tries to be affable and laugh it off, and her supporters in the crowd manage to out cheer the boos enough to make it seem like more of a mixed reception that an outright rebuke. But Clinton's poorly received performance at this conference highlights a significant roadblock in her attempt to be the Democratic nominee: the base sincerely doesn't seem to like her and they seem to really like Obama, Edwards and even Richardson right now. Has she totally lost her progressive credibility? Take a look at this clip and you be the judge.

We "gave the Iraqis a chance..", Madam Clinton?

We gave them Abu Ghraib

We gave them Falluja

We gave them death and destruction.

Lady Liberty weeps tears of blood

while the once-women in power reveal their vampire natures.

You can't cripple a country's economy for years, blow it to bits, then setup a puppet government and expect it to work.

All king George's horses and men can't put Iraq back together again. Even the puppet regime knows that having US troops stay there is just making things worse.

"Democrats are telling voters that if they are elected, all U.S. troops will be pulled out of Iraq. But as Sen. Hillary Clinton privately told a senor military adviser, she knows there will be some troops there for decades. It's an example of how in some cases, politics can force dishonesty." -- Ted Koppel, National Public Radio, "All Things Considered" ("A Duty to Mislead: Politics and the Iraq War")

"Sen. Clinton Wants Troops in Iraq for at Least 10 Years" - David Swanson, afterdowningstreet.org
-- "She told the New York Times three months ago that some forces would have to remain. And Koppel adds that he spoke with someone from the Pentagon who briefs Clinton, and that she had told this person that if she is elected and reelected, she expects to have troops in Iraq at the end of her second term. Koppel notes that that's 10 years away."

Hillary needs a good public smackdown for daring to say the Iraqis are to blame for this goddamn mess. What kind of human being spews such a callous attack on innocent civilians just to shift blame from herself?!

She is beyond the pale.

Sorry, but it sure sounded like cheering to me. Why did she say she loved going there every year, then?

That was very stupid thing to say: We´ve done everything right, It´s the Iraqis´ fault. American pride is great what you´re proud of something that you really can be proud of. Otherwise, shut up.

I don't get it.

All politicians are annoying, the way they keep raising their voice, fishing for applause. But she's like 10 zillion fingernails on a zillion chalkboards.

Oil and Greed

I want to vote for a female president before I die but why cannot Hillary get a clue. Blaming a rape victim for wearing a short skirt makes about as much sense as to blame the Iraqis. If they had no oil we would not be there. Why are all the candidates skirting the true issue. Oil and greed. Oh they need that oil money too.

The problem with the Clintons? Greed. They are so busy trying to triangulate their positions so they can still get boatloads of corporate money AND enough votes to win elections.

Hilary is just another of many politicians who tells the public what she thinks they want to hear, while selling them out to lobbyists and money. Her campaign (like Obama, Giuliani, Thompson & McCain) consists solely of image with minimal substance.

Hilary Clinton has the attitude that America owes her and Bill wealth and status because they were President and Governor. All of her scandals are over political favors and money in her pocket. The Republicans hate her, because she acts just like they do when it comes to political gamesmanship.

In reality, none of the top candidates seem to 'get it'. We are destined for another four years of being lied to and having our country sold out to corporate crooks.

I have incredible respect for Hillary.
DEEP respect. She walked through an Inferno.

...then she starts in on the '30 million Canadians endanger the economy of 300 million Americans' bullshit & the wheels fall off again. I don't know why Americans boo her, but I sure as hell know she does herself no favours with the familiar American refrain, "blame anybody but ourselves".

Didn't the Clintons learn their lesson the first time? Just be honest, stop the spin, people...

That's how Gov.Terminator got a toehold from Hollywood support, by implying Canadians were a bigger economic threat than, say, Bollywood...

Can't campaigns be run without villification?
seriously: its offensive, no matter who does it. Have you thought of making a Xbox game out of alienating your closest allies? might save Time, you know...

Can Americans offend us more? of course we'll keep on taking it. ...sure we will. until we stop.

enjoy.

Spread Love...
... but wear the Glove!

I am not a fan of either Clinton, but I must, to those of you commenting, draw attention to the fact that H. Clinton said the Iraqi GOVERNMENT had their chance, NOT the Iraqi people. Big difference- unless you feel okay about being considered one with the Bush administration.
