Apparently, as far as Fox News is concerned, all Black congressmen look alike.

No one on the planet would have expected Fox News' coverage of Democratic congressman William Jefferson's indictment on corruption charges to be anything less than gleeful but it also turned out to be more than a little insidious. The video to your right, produced by The Talking Points Memo, shows how while the on air personalities drone on about Jefferson's indictment, footage of House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers is played. Now, probably Fox News would plead that was an honest techinical mistake on their part if they were ever challenged about it. But I think it is fair to assume the network wanted to not-so-subtly make Conyers and Jefferson seem linked and maybe for less than discerning viewers--appear to be the same person. For all the attention Fox News receives for being partisan politically, I don't think remotely enough attention has been paid to their consistent and shameless racist content.

UPDATE: This was released from John Conyers office today: Yesterday, Fox News Channel broke the story of Rep. William Jefferson's indictment with video of House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers greeting Attorney General Alberto Gonzales at a recent Judiciary Committee hearing. The network apologized on-air for airing the wrong video; however, they did not personally apologize to Mr. Conyers or describe the video they aired the previous day. Chairman Conyers responded today:

"Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced. This type of disrespect for people of color should no longer be tolerated. I am personally offended by the network's complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology." - House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI)

The GOP, McCain Fall Flat Online
So, instead of mocking them, perhaps I should be worried about their growing online activist army. Just kidding.

Great job Fox! They even managed to get another corrupt minority (Gonzales) in the shot!

The Fox producers out did themselves this time. Not only do they show Conyers (but "they all look the same" even mustascioed) but managed to get the "mexican" Gonzales in the shot. Kudos. Is David Duke interning at Fox, perhaps??

Brit Hume: John Glenn Is No "Spear-Chucker"

Fred Thompson was the chairman of the investigating committee and it went absolutely nowhere. He was effectively buffaloed in that investigation by none other than John Glenn, who is a wonderful man, but not somebody you would normally think capable of being a real partisan spear-chucker who could undo an investigation.

The question to ask is why has the Congressional Black Caucus signed up with Fox Noise Channel?

Fire the guy in the control room! Get'em Alternet! Seriously though, who sits around taping Fox News all day just to get them "red handed?" Stop crying wolf. File clips are jacked up a lot. There was a clip a while ago on E! where they accidently showed Mary Carey when they were supposed to be showing Mariah Carey.

You'd think they'd have rolled the tape of him accepting a $100,000 bribe...

...from the FBI's informant.

Or maybe a dramatic reading: All these damn notes we're writing to each other as if we're talking, as if the FBI is watching

--Credit one William "Dollar Bill" Jefferson.

I'm having crawfish fettucine and champagne tonight in celebration of the new potential for progress in Louisiana. I heard Karen Carter--the likely successor--on the radio this morning talking about taking the insurance industry to task. Maybe we'll get a reform candidate in office, instead of another "good ol' boy" like the Landrieu's and the Jefferson's of the state, although we're brimming over with them.

P.S. Objectively, the folks over at Fox News are pretty damn stupid (Big Secret), and I never attribute to malice (racist/bigot/hobogoblin/YourFavoriteMeme/etc.) that which can be easily explained by ignorance or stupidity. Faux News does this all the time

I saw a Faux News Sunday interview with Claire McCaskill during her Senate race in which they put up a 15 year old picture of her during the intro, which contrasted with her actual appearance in the interview. The lingering impression would be that she is dishonest, though the pictures she actually used in her campaign were much more representative. I have no doubt that it was a deliberate sabotage attempt. Faux News also consistently puts misleading unfavorable factoids at the bottom of the screen under Democrats - while Republicans get favorable ones.

... are addicted to fox Cable News. They will defend it to an absurd point. They got duped and don't want to admit that. They don't have the skills to admit when they're wrong.

Like little children.

It's not the first time they've done this and it won't be the last. All we have to do is think back when they, and other so-called respectable media personalities, did this with Barak Obama and Hussein.
At this point, you don't question FOX. You question the mentality, veracity and the bigotry of those who consider them an unbiased and truthful news and information source.
This also applies to members of the CBC who have signed off on this farce of a debate. Who knows, they might actually be professional because people will be scrutinizing them. If they are, it will only be part of a plan to get people to let their guards down.

Remember when the Mark Foley scandal broke, Fox News ran the story showing him as a Florida Democrat, even placing the (D) next to his name on the screen. Of course we all know Foley is a Republican, right??? How can anyone watch that channel????

Fox News=Jerry Springer Show

I have to admit that I watch Fox news on occasion and this latest fiasco demonstrates why I do. It is like the Jerry Springer Show, you can't help to tune in once in a while just to see what ridiculous shit they are running for the week. I know that some people (perhaps lots of people) take Fox news seriously, but if you are that far gone, not even Jesus can save you. For the sake of the serious Fox news fan, I really do pray that God is forgiving.

Daily Show

I have to admit, when I first saw this footage on The Daily Show, I thought Jon Stewart and company were being disingenuous. After all, couldn't the FOX camera man simply have been showing a view of what was currently happening in Congress (in this case, a hearing about the Justice department)? But now I see that this is not the case: the cameraman was clearly following Rep. Conyers around. It's probably archival footage related to Conyers, but what the heck - the racism in confusing Conyers and Jefferson is so obvious.
