Jerry Falwell's crimes against humanity at large are well documented yet Republicans desperate to burnish their socially conservative credentials will be quick to try to claim his mantle. The video to your right is a concise rundown of some of Falwell's most infamous moments. If the Republicans want to celebrate the legacy of Falwell, they'll have a lot of explaining to do.

Thanks, Rachel, for reminding us of Falwell's legacy. For most of us the gruesome details fade away from memory, leaving only the impression of his evilness. Now I remember why the name and the reaction of disgust always went hand in hand.

Even though his passing has made this a glorious week, the thought of him still wants to make me vomit.

to take the place of Jerry Falwell. After all, we have plenty to chose from right in Washington. D.C., and the red states are full of these pieces of sh--.

There's worse than Falwell

As Falwell slipped into the waiting pits of Hell (I hope) he had already been eclipsed by others more evil than he. James Dobson, D. James Kennedy, et al, super-dominionists, are infinately worse than Falwell was. These latter have made it perfectly clear they intend to overthrow the Constitution and to establish a Calvinist style theocracy. For all his warped, hate filled notions of church and politics, Falwell was never as audacious, or as treasonous as the Dominionists!!!!

In an act of generosity we should all pray that Jerry Falwell's shroud is made of asbestos.

This is pablum compared to other facets of the Rev. Falwell. Why don't you do some real digging on Falwell's and the religious right (and Bush's) connections to Sun Myung Moon, the cult pretender to the second coming of Christ? Begin with Robert Parry's Consortium for Independent Journalism. Jerry Falwell got into deep debt to the rhythm of $80 million after his donations took a dive following the defeat of George Bush Sr. to Clinton. He accepted a bailout of a $68 million cash from Sun Myung Moon, yes the Moonie god himself who's wife beating drug sucking son will inherit his throne. What then of Falwell's role in protection of Moon? Did Falwell have a role with Kissinger in the Operation Condor with Moon, Klaus Barbie and Henry Kissinger? Try a little harder to get to the depths of the Falwell anti-christianity. No hypocrisy is greater than Falwell's doctrinal short circuits, and it will require a writer better versed in Christian scriptural issues than light weight Rachel Maddow to do this as the story deserves.
