In testimony before Congress former Deputy Attorney General James Comey describes how Alberto Gonzales tried to bully a gravely ill John Ashcroft into doing the President's bidding on domestic surveillance. Comey's appearance follows revelations that the Justice Department's inspector general and Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating whether Monica Goodling, a former Gonzales aide, illegally considered political affiliation in reviewing candidates for the assistant prosecutor jobs in the offices of interim or acting U.S. attorneys. The Washington Post reports that Comey's testimony is "an account of Bush administration lawlessness so shocking it would have been unbelievable coming from a less reputable source." Could this be the final nail in Gonzales' coffin?

If this does not bring about a shake-up in the admin, nothing will.

The B/C administration has nothing to fear but the light. I would use the Wizard of Oz metaphor but there are no smiles for what these people do with all the force at their disposal. Good on Senator Leahy and his committee to keep them facing the light.

Especially in red states. I wouldn't count on the suckers in this country to get excited about anything except Nascar and other sports.

There is no such nail, no matter how many will be hammered in. This also holds true for Carl Rove, Vice President George Bush, and President Dick Cheney.
