Stephen Colbert challenges the Democrats to impeach Bush now. He's just been taunting you all these years with the outing of Valerie Plame, WMD lies, Katrina tragedy, wiretapping, attorney firings, etc. etc. etc...

I was alone, in bed, watching Colbert, and I literally laughed out loud. Hard. For a good ten seconds or so.

Ummm... Democrats?

You're not a bunch of pussies, are you?

Impeach now!!
Let's start with Cheney, and move on to Bush. Maybe we can even impeach him twice, like Colbert says.......
If Clinton can be impeached for immoral dalliances with an intern, then surely Bush can be impeached for his immoral war machine, lying to congress and the American people, etc.

Knock knock, is anybody home??? Can it be true that the American public can finally be woken from its stupor and slumber? WOW, wonders really do happen, or is it my wishful thinking? I will be watching this space as usual...which of the dumb pukes does the majority of the US public belong to, plain dumb, dumberer or decidedly dumbest!; and why has it taken so long to feel and do something about this bunch of bandits, idiots and scavengers running this country?? Wake up everybody (aww blimey, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes for inspiration!) and do something for crying and yellin' out loud!!!...toss these chumps NOW...

Who can protect the powerless from the powerful?

The Democrats don't get it, they would rather play nice with murderers and thieves, than do the right thing, and the Democrats worry about public opinion spun by the Corporate Republicans, rather than rally the public to take a revolutionary stance against those that would destroy our Republic!

Isn't the purpose of government to protect the powerless from the powerful?

Democrats: No imagination, no political conviction, no balls.

Republicans: No morals, unfettered greed, no humanity.

Got ethics?

Could Ralph Nader send his good message to the people with straight hitting hell fire?

I love the "Cober Report" because of it's witty sarcasm, as shown by the "call" for Shrub's impeachment -- an impractical course of action because of the time required.

Congress would better serve America by thoroughly investigating the Bush administration and letting reporters publicize rampant GOP corruption like they’re doing with the U.S. attorney firing emails.

The more info, the better. We can destroy Bush after he leaves office.

Hugh E. Scott, editor of King-George.biz -- the only website with hardcopy proof of White House corruption (one reason why Bush won’t let Karl Rove testify under oath in the U.S. attorneys’ firing scandal).

Maybe he's just taunting us, keeping us busy with things happening on the outside while he himself is busy with the real work of solidifying his control on the inside.

The Democrats are not pussies, they just have discovered the reality of American politics, that the more they appropriate to offense contractors and Israel, the more "mob tribute" comes back in the form of political contributions from those offense contractors.

So they're all between the rock of wanting to do the right thing and what the American People want and the hard place of wanting and NEEDING, unfortunately, that re-election money to flow into their political warchests.

The only solution is to make political contributions from all companies and corporations AND ALL FOREIGN COUNTRIES AND ORGANIZATIONS AND COMPANIES AND FOREIGN INDIVIDUALS absolutely illegal, with a set fine of $10,000,000 for each offense, and to limit personal contributions to one contribution per individual per ONE candidate per election to the amount of $500. That's the only solution.

Otherwise Amerika is doomed to dictatorship by oligarchy, not anything remotely resembling what the founding fathers set up.

Corporatism plus globalization equals the death of nations. Nations are on their way to becoming totally irrelevant and they've almost arrived. Patriotism is a quaint relic of the old days. JFK's "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" has become a joke to the "in crowd." Only suckers follow Kennedy's thought. There's no viable way to change things because the monied interests control the mainstream media and they've bought the whores to do their bidding in our government. This ain't your grandpa's America, kiddies.

I forgot to add that Cheney should be tied to a post and shot by a firing squad while Bush is hanged. And every cent that both stole (that is, all of their money) should be taken immediately and distributed to the poor.

I also forgot to say that these punishments may seem a trifle sadistic, they occurred to me only because I'm a God-fearing, churchgoing Christian, with the concomitant amount of Godly viciousness, sadism, and love of violence. Come to think of it, maybe we should just crucify Bush and Cheney. As a God-fearing, churchgoing Christian, I think that what's good enough for Our Savior is good enough for B & C.

The best part about this is the line "Don't you want to make President Bush just as unpopular as impeachment made Clinton?" In other words: Impeaching Bush would just bolster his numbers, and he wouldn't actually be kicked out of office anyway. We'd just end up with a Bush who would believe he can get away with murder. He already believes that now, but impeachment would really just show him how bulletproof he really is, and he'd fly even further off the sanity meter.

I think that Colbert and the Democratic leadership are correct. At this point in time, impeachment isn't the answer because the probability is so low that the process would work out the way we would want it to. But the idea of doing it sure does feel good. Bush & Co. have made the country so much weaker--- militarily, economically, democratically, our stature the world, etc, that if anyone has ever deserved it, he does. He and the other authoritarians in the Republican Party, along with their hacks at Fox News, have done so many un-democratic, un-American things (as Colbert stated) and pushed so many negative emotional buttons by how they talk to the public that they deserve to be immediately ushered out of the country they claim to love so much. But they love it mostly because they have power. If we take that power away from them (at the next election), they'll become angry crybabies, just like they were under Clinton.
