The Simpsons gets in on the FOX propaganda... perhaps as penitence for something like 15 years of revenue they've thrown at the network...

Or maybe it's from a transcript...

Just shows the Repukes put money ahead of politics or ideals-even their own.

But you gotta love the "crawlers" along the bottom of the screen.

This was a rather lightweight example. Usually the Fox host plays tag team with the Republic guest, both of them taking turns attacking the Democratic guest. And don't forget the video clip or quote that the host uses to bushwack the Democrat.

the Simpsons do satire on a network that defines
satire. Can they find it in themselves and move to
a network that is only 90 per cent on the take, rather than the Fox 100? Ailes is the anti Christ. Honest.

The Simpsons on FOX

Some wonder why this hilarious program is on FOX, an I think someone pointed out that it predates the FOX turn to the right. Also, it was a short segment on the Tracy Ullman Show, and then became a half hour program on its own. Still, one wonders why the show doesn't jump ship. You're going to find most networks are probably at least 'small c' conservatve--theyuse advertising like anyone else because they need to make money. Of there's nothing overly capitalist about that, since even Alternet has to us advertising!

Where have you all been? I've puked at fauxnews, sure, but have continued to be amazed at how out of the closet their adult cartoon shows are -- it's not just Matt Groening's the Simpsons. Watch Seth McFarlane's "Family Guy" or "American Dad" (which is about an over-the-top CIA agent). They don't have any problem putting down Fox News or Fox the network (most late-night talk-show hosts get that freedom to make fun their own network). They also mildly trash various conservative conventions, assumptions, events, etc.

I'd chalk it up to some fairly simple network dynamics: these producers' shows are a major portion of the network's profits, and therefore can pretty much say anything they want. They probably recognize that even they have some boundaries to observe, though pretty liberal. Fox network management probably rationalizes this gives the more perceptive members of the audience some freedom from guilt over watching these shows on the Open Propaganda Network, and may even help them keep a few favorite writers on these very profitable sets. As for the producers, well: Fox, in its early desperate years, took a leap of faith with prime-time adult-level cartoons, so they may see no reason to rock their now-comfortable boat. Fox lets them get away with a lot the more established networks wouldn't dare (mainly out of inertia, not values). On the other networks, they'd be the new kid on the block, not the main leaseholder.

Oddly enough, if they moved, Fox News would probably let loose on them as prime suspects in "our country's moral and cultural decay", instead of studiously ignoring them as the meal-ticket holding up much of the rest of the network. (I don't have hard data to back that up, but it probably would be worth researching to understand the creative, political and financial dynamics of this very odd network.) All in all, I suspect a better understanding of demographics on Fox's entertainment shows on broadcast affiliates would show a big disconnect from audiences watching Fox national's CABLE News.

Hasn't anyone figured out yet that there are TWO 'medias'?

With all the blustery hubbub about the 'left wing media' and the 'right wing media conspiracy', most seem to miss the ultimate truth:

There are, in fact two different branches of what we refer to as "the media".

1) The 'entertainment' media, who has mostly been cranking out utter crap for TV, movies and music. It panders mostly to the lowest factor of entertainment (hedonism, foul language, loose morals, etc.) and usually has no respect for what was once known as 'common decency'. This is mostly run by and/or employs artistic types, who generally lean to the left.

2) The 'news' media, who up until lately has been gobbling up everything this administration has led them to. Any reference to 'not gonna have another Viet Nam' was speaking directly to the control of the media in order to control the opinion of the American populace. It has been driven by mega-corporations and populated by those who value personal success above all else, and (regardless of political affiliations) usually lean to the right.

These are, of course, stereotypes - over generalizations, but with more than a smattering of truth to them. But the FOX Network has always embraced BOTH sides; their TV shows (especially the new FX) have always pushed the boundaries of taste, while their Conservative news media rails against the very behavior that their TV shows embrace. Since FOX has been so blatantly extreme in both categories, it's difficult to label them as either 'right' or 'left'. But they are a perfect example of where both 'medias' have gone astray.

So, take a closer look: the 'media' has never been about being 'RED' or 'BLUE'.

It's all about the GREEN.

Forget integrity, either artistic or journalistic!
Which way is the wind blowing today, and which direction will make us the most money?

That being said - personally, I love The Simpsons (always with the guts to bite the hand that feeds them), 24, House, and a few other FOX and FX shows. And their 'news' division is only good for a few laughs.

But not many.

"Of course, this is just my opinion....I could be wrong...."

...but I viewed this a great parody of the Faux News Network! I laughed the first time and did so again this time. It is NOT, in my mind, a slam on the Democraps, but the way they actually operate on Faux on the behalf of the Repukes.

But that is just my interpretation. But even if they were being malicious, they still have that 1st amendment right.

I thought it had something to do with war or drug war? I was amused by it but it didn't say much about anything except that media like fox slant and obscure the news! So what's new!???
