On Bill Maher's Real Time, a staid Major General Eaton (who was, at one time, charged with training Iraqi troops) does serious damage to the Republican relationship with the troops. And he does it in that patented straight-laced, straight-forward military style. It's absolutely devastating.

In addition to thanking God for the Democratic takeover of Congress, Eaton lays the blame for Walter Reed at Rumsfeld's feet and responds to Maher's theory that the troops have an abusive relationship with Bush (the worse he treats them, the better they like him) thusly:

"We've got this thing that so many military believe that Republican administrations are good for the military. That is rarely the case. And, we have to get a message through to every soldier, every family member, every friend of soldiers that the Republican party, the Republican dominated Congress has absolutely been the worst thing that's happened to the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps."
Big thanks to John Harrison for the clip.

Digg!
