We've already had a story and video on Fox's "24," so if you want to learn more about the program and its right wing creators, go HERE and HERE.

A short time ago, "24"'s producers were approached by representatives from the military and human rights groups who attempted to persuade them to stop depicting torture so frequently and in the manner in which they did.

Before 9/11 there were roughly 4 incidents of torture depicted on prime time TV per year, and they were mostly unsuccessful attempts by foreigners. Since then, roughly 100 depictions, mostly by Americans and often to the effect of saving America from disaster.

In the clip to the upper right a former interrogator who used torture himself and a human rights activist discuss their meeting with the producers, torture's success rate, and the future of torture depictions on TV...

Of course they refused to appear. They know damned well that much of what they do is meant as a tool to program the public.

I stopped watching 24 because of the proliferation of torture in the show. It seemed to me that the show was being used to desensitize it's viewers to torture and cause torture to be viewed as an acceptable, effective and necessary tool in the "war on terra".
