The official kickoff to the Attack Iran '07™ campaign launched last week with the three Anony-mice asserting connections between Iranian leadership and the insurgency in Iraq.

When the folly of that connection -- not to mention the folly of the assertion itself -- was revealed, Bush was forced to step back and blame the messenger.

Now, BBC reports (video upper right) that the plan of attack on Iran goes far beyond the expected disruption of nuclear capabilities to include "most of the country's military infrastructure," much of which is dangerously close to population centers. The plan, they note, is rapidly evolving and significant movement is being made in that direction. Nothing new there. But, as many have noted, something alarming was mentioned (second one below):

According to the BBC story:

"the trigger for such an attack reportedly includes any confirmation that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon - which it denies."
"Alternatively, our correspondent adds, a high-casualty attack on US forces in neighbouring Iraq could also trigger a bombing campaign if it were traced directly back to Tehran."
Interesting, given the fact that the administration sought to make that connection last week, as mentioned above.

For its part, Iran says it's ready for talks, but then again it's been ready for talks for 4 years, only Rove, Cheney, and Rice thought it'd be better to tell them to eff off.

Update: Sean-Paul writes of the second trigger: "This is entirely too vague a trigger, especially for this President, if you ask me. Bush is not to be trusted with vague 'triggers,' or any kind of triggers at all, really."

Digg!

It seems that Bushco. will have their war no matter what.

Maybe we will find out the actual answer to that old chestnut of a joke.. what if they threw a war and nobody showed up?

Iran would undeniably call for a draft, and I think you are going to have quite a big problem instituting a draft in this nation today. I fear it would rip this nation apart.. not in some ideological yet "cold" way, but in a very ":hot" and very violent way... riots and massive civil unrest.

...a concept tailor-made for a delusional hegemonist like Our Fearless Leader.

Bush is more dangerous now than he has been at any point in the past six years -- he is accountable to no one. And, as he watches the centerpiece of his presidential legacy swirl down the toilet bowl in Iraq, he's also a desperate man, with little, if anything, to lose.

Hope for the best, folks, but prepare for the worst.

He doen't need a real attack by Iranians to justify his invasion.

Many have pointed out that this attack on Iran is an inevitability. It has been decided, perhaps years ago, and we are awaiting the whim of the madmen in the White House and their court of neo-cons. It is pathetically the same old lines, simply change the "q" to an "n" and hit "replay." They aren't even trying to come up with a new story line. And why are we still buying it?

It's smoke & mirrors. All major warlike countries have such contingency plans; it does not mean they will use them.
Have you also considered that China & Russia will not sit idly by as their oil supply is jeopardized. Bush would face a mutiny if he ordered such an attack.

"the trigger for such an attack reportedly includes any confirmation that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon - which it denies." (read: “… confirmation based on any ‘evidence’ the US may handily invent …”)

"... a high-casualty attack on US forces in neighbouring Iraq could also trigger a bombing campaign if it were traced directly back to Tehran." (read: “… if the US claims Iran was involved …”)

Let's hope it's just part of the disinformation campaign aimed at the Iranian leadership...

Otherwise, it may be time to seriously start pushing for an intra-national pre-emptive strike -- aka impeachment...After all, we can't be expected to just wait around for them to get their brush-cutting, beer-drinking, oil-coveting, good 'ole boy mojo on, can we? Repeat after me: "They hate us for our freedom"!

of U.S. imperialism. That will be the only outcome of this latest Nazi-like aggression by the U.S.

Remember, the Nazis lost. The Nazis wanted to conquer Europe; The U.S.A. pretends to the whole world. The U.S.A. is in an even weaker position relative to that of the Nazis. They don't stand a chance of ultimate success.

If it wasn't for the massive loss of innocent life that will result, I'd say, like our brilliantly prescient President, "Bring 'em on!".

To the U.S.A. as we have known it: Good riddance!

NOW we know why Blair is lying about pulling out GB's troops

Because of this report, he HAS to pretend that GB is going to be getting out of the Mideast, while knowing full well that a false-flag attack (purportedly from Iran while actually being from Israel or US/British special ops) on the ships in the Gulf or on troops in Iraq will rally the British People against Iran. As well as American support, saving and reviving BOTH Bush's failed "Presidency" and Blair's failed political career.

THIS is why Blair announces their "withdrawal" now, and why the White House didn't even blink except for a completely nonsensical contradictory response (the British withdrawal shows that Iraq is progressing and is a good thing, while America still has to send more troops).

Blair is feinting, faking with a weak right punch while the knockout punch, the nuking of Iran, will come on the other fist.

Exactly what Israel did by pulling out of Gaza, to win sympathy and kudos before DECIMATING LEBANON.

These War Pigs are nothing if not completely predictable.
