Blogger, Middle East scholar and professor Juan Cole smelled a rat (as did just about everyone but the press) when three anonymous defense and intelligence officials claimed to have evidence that Iran was arming the Iraqi insurgency.

Cole rips the "intel" apart, noting that these weapons aren't difficult to make, that there's a thriving black market and that many weapons were simply left behind after the US invasion or Iraq, unprotected and there for the taking...

N.B.: Bush has since essentially retracted that intelligence, blaming it on a messenger.

Among the upcoming events that address Iran, Iraq, and impeachment, is an emergency summit by World Can't Wait -- Drive Out the Bush Regime. Debra Sweet, World Can’t Wait's director had this to say about the need for impeachment: "An illegal war in Iraq spinning out of control, legalized torture, NSA spying – these constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity. The program of the Bush administration must be repudiated by removing him from office before his term expires, or the whole direction he is taking society will be legitimated and made permanent."

Digg!

Ok, There seems to be some missunderstanding about the Iran made military equipment on the internet, and specially among anti-war movement.

Iran dose manufacture a wide range of material, including those mentioned in the power point presentations by the Pentagon.

Most of those weapons are marked with "western" letters for 2 reason, first, because many of them were manufactured by the American make equipment that started back in the 1970s when Shah of Iran helped Nixon by giving help almost the entire Iranian airforce Fantom and other fighter jets (I believe 11 Iranian pilots died in the War in vietnam).

Second, many of these weapons are manufactured mainly for export. So It is important the receiving countries will be able to identify and understand the text on them.

But, what is surpriszing is the "fact" that they keep saying Iran has given these equipment to the Shia militia, but more than 90% (if not more) of the US and other western soldiers in Iraq have been killed by the Iraqi Sunnies. Who receive their backing from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates. All US "friendly" nations.

I am trying to put a list of issues about the "facts" US government is putting together on my ne blog

http://www.abdolian.com/thoughts

I am trying to get the information about these items from my relatives in Iran and put it there.

cheers,
/Farhad

would be to impeach Bush and Cheney for their High Crimes and Misdemeanors, starting with lying us into an illegal war. That would show the world that the American people will hold their leaders accountable out of principle. The congress has taken impeachment "off the table" out of fear that Americans will turn against them when we get tired of 24/7 coverage of impeachment interferes with our favorite sitcoms, sports and soap operas.

We need to give our elected representatives and senators "cover" to do the right thing by phoning, faxing and e-mailing them that we have HAD ENOUGH and can't wait until 2009 to be rid of these outlaws who are committing their crimes in our name. We need to write letters to the editor, and get our fellow citizens used to the idea that impeachment is the constitutionally prescribed remedy for crimes at the highest level of government; it is not some wild, farfetched vendetta.

What reasonable person would turn down a remedy that would cure his cancer because it tasted bitter or caused discomfort?

Our dwindling circle of friends, and our enemies know perfectly well that we have the means to stop Bush/Cheney.Allowing them to stay in office until Jan. 2009 tells the world that we support them. Only by removing them from office peacefully, and ASAP, can we begin to rebuild this country's reputation in the world community.

As Gov. Howard Dean said in 2003, "You have the power!" We used that power in the November elections; now we must use it to make Congress take America back.
