Check out this clip of Anthony Weiner, a NY Dem, blasting the Republicans for their latest fake outrage: the non-scandal over Nancy Pelosi's non-insistence that she get a big airforce plane to fly her between Washington and DC. Note that Weiner pushes back against Republicans' juvenile use of "Democrat Party," referring ten times in just a few minutes to the "Republic Party." [ht: Atrios]

Mr. Speaker, this can’t possibly be the best they have got. This can't be. I cannot imagine that a party that governed for the last 12-some-odd years, who had a Congress that met less days than the do-nothing Congress, who wasted billions of dollars in the Iraq war doing no oversight, drove up the deficit to record heights, wasted homeland security funds, it can't possibly be that the best that party has is to now devote an afternoon talking about the security arrangements for the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.

Digg!

with balls. I am so sick of these red state a-holes. Makes me wish the south had won the Civil war and seceded. Who needs these red state morons?

The same echo chamber Neo-Con Brigade of Numbskull Neanderthals®™, that have been B*tching about Ms Pelosi, pimping the Bush agenda and calling the Democratic Party the Democrat Party will be crying about this- if not on the air- certainly under their breath.
Feels good to hear someone with a (D) behind their name tell it like it is.

Why the incredulous tone, Representative Weiner? It has been made abundantly clear that whining about petty non-issues like this IS, in fact, the best that the Republic Party has to offer America. That is why they were FIRED in November of 2006.

From flag burning and gay marriage to creation science and Monica Lewinsky, the Republic Party has demonstrated loudly and clearly that they are the party of non-issues, sleaze and corruption, with little to offer the United States of America in terms of real leadership.

Excellent speech, Representative Weiner!

Finally, a man who defends his circle

Thanks, Josh for putting this up. It's good to see someone my own age, on camera defending the reality's turf. I love the asshat who shows up trying to distract him from his reality-check then gets smacked down. Finally.

Now, why can't the good people of my own district get a House Rep like Wiener? Oh, I forgot, the people here didn't elect Elton Gallegly, that paragon of white supremacist hate, the defense contractors, corporate fatcats (who live over the hill from me--or should I saw their brats and the nannies do) and the US Navy did. Damn our system that subverts the voice of real people on behalf of the very worst of the sewers of 'Merkuh.

I was so embarrassed to see my congressman (NC district 10) in this clip. . .all three of my state legislators are Repubs . . . and the worst variety of Bush backers. Turning to McHenry on any issue really gets my blood boiling as his return form letters are sooo condescending. But YES! It is refreshing to hear from Congressmen who have a backbone.

I'm as liberal as they get, but a good question was asked and not answered. If someone is demanding a jet that could seat 42 people, be used solely for herself- is she not contributing to global warming? I don't like Pelosi, and she comes across as a pompous hypocrite. The Dem's. need to stop spending time and energy defending each others mistakes, or they'll go down the same road as the Republicans.
