Here's the amazing thing: seven years ago, I was actually toying with the idea of supporting John McCain in the 2000 presidential race. I was naive enoug to believe he would be able to move the republican party back toward the center, so to speak...I was also much sympathy for him because of the way the Bush Mob used his dark-skinned adopted daughter to fan the flames of race hatred in South Carolina that year.

That he is just another pandering hypocrite (as this little Greenwald mini documentary makes as clear as a bell) should surprise no one. The straight talk express deraile a long time ago as fat as I'm concerned.

McCain is and always has been a hypocrite. My concern is that the people of this country, who want so badly to take back America from the madness of greedy, incompetent non-leaders should, in the next elections, have a Democrat and former First Lady that has notoriously backed Bush´s war to go up against a Republican such as McCain. So I would suggest to those who plan to vote Democrat not get too comfortable; a Democrat may have much better possibilities of winning next time, but which Democrat? I say, put the pressure on the Dems to support a real peace candidate with real courage. That candidate just may be Edwards. But I strongly suspect that that he is not the one the party machine wants. Put the pressure on, people. If we don´t, you know damn well who´s going to be the candidate.

Clearly, as evidenced from the video, McCain, is no longer cognizant enough to function as a competent politician. Whether it is because he's getting on in age and senility is setting in, or just plain hypocrisy and stupidity, makes no difference. Anyone who sits and listens to this man is insulting himself and wasting his time. Personally, I wish the American people will see the value of Al Gore, his potential to make the kind of president we will need in 2008. The man who should have been president, except for a minor glich in 2000 called election fraud, should be allowed to be the real president.

Let's not forget John McCain's past. He was a POW in Vietnam. Consider the psychological damage that did to him. Don't hate the man. Encourage him to seek professional treatment. He is unstable, and could potentially be a worse president than the one we have now, bu the's not a hypocrite. He just doesn't know truth from fiction.

The guy's daddy kept the Israeli attack and murder of U.S. sailors aboard the USS Liberty for 40 plus years a secret. McCain was aboard a carrier that had a rocket accident, was a "hero" captive of the North Vietnamese, right?.... but wait, this hero signed a statement for the "enemy" then recanted. Hell private Eddy Slovic was executed for running and he stopped after a short distance and turned to fight again! Might be a good idea for you Drones to search McCain's "heroic" past. We all know how history and the powerful can paint wise, brave patriotic pictures out of snivelling cowards. look at Bush!

Eddy Slovic freaked for a few minutes, and even though he had a fine combat record, even though after a few short minutes he ran back into the enemy and again fought bravely, you EXECUTED him. the corporate media has backed and helped Bush for the last 6 years we know of, yet you choose to believe them when they tell you Hugo Chavez is a despot. He sucks like the 99.9% of the rest of the Republican Party, and should be relegated to the dustbin of failed politicians, parties and policies.....Just like the rest of the Republican Party.....

just look back to his claims of being a victim of torture at the hands of the vietnamese (and I mean really read his accounts of torture).
he was made to sleep without a blanket and he was pushed hard during an interrogation, which caused an injury that he suffered while bailing out of a plane while over northern vietnam bombing civillians.
he then went on to write an ammendment that would allow the pres to wriggle out of the noose that was thrown on him to limit or even make illegal torture by US forces.
His ammendment declared exempt the CIA to any control related to torture, which is kinda bizarre when recognizing that MCCain's 'torture' came at the same time the CIA launched the pheonix operation which tortured to death (not swleeping without a blanket, but torture until dead) over 20,000 vietnamese civillians as attested to by bart osborne (cia operative for the operation) infront of a senate committtee in 1970.
mccain is a coward and a corporate slut.

Do we REALLY know McCain is a Vietnam Vet and/or POW?

Sounds insane, but, the truth is we ONLY know what we have been told. And we DO know that we are often told lies -- big lies; lies so outrageous that at the time it seems impossible that they are not true.

This is the Hitler propaganda technique personified -- "if you say something so absolutely outrageous; people naturally assume it must be true for they believe, quite naturally, that no one would tell such a lie..."

For all we know McCain is NOT even a Vietnam veteran; much less a former POW. Unfortunately, we live in times and with a government that makes ANY assumption regarding the truth of what we are told to be risky; and the wise person questions ALL and accepts NONE.

In these times the honest person is at a distinct disadvantage -- most of us limit our untruths to telling telemarketers we already own a product, etc. but since we NEVER would tell huge, damaging lies, we make the misguided assumption that others also would not. AND, that is just the state of mind the PIPS (People In Power) are counting on to get away with their lies.

It only stands to reason that people who would not hesitate for a minute to engage in mass killing on an industrial scale and risk the existence of the entire human race to make a buck would have absolutely NO hesitation to tell lies on an industrial scale as well -- especially since they control the records, sources of information; threaten and kill those who do not go along; as well as the mass media.

The truth is I do NOT REALLY know McCain is a Vietnam Vet and/or POW; and neither do you. NOT even his family REALLY knows; any letters he wrote could easily have been faked and he could have been sunning himself in some CIA resort during his "POW" Days.

Witnesses??? Do you mean fellow "POW's" who could easily have been at that SAME resort??

Military records??? Do you mean those same military records that gave us the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident"??? Or those military records that gave us "Weapons of Mass Destruction In Iraq"???

At a minimum we must confront the fact that McCain is a roper -- a person who is used to compromise and mislead the public on a grand scale. I find it hard to believe that anyone who purports to be what McCain claims to be would advocate putting American Service Personnel at risk in "Iraq-nam".

So I feel it is my duty to ask, "What is wrong with this picture?" and personally I must adopt the Sherlock Holmes premise:

"When all other explanations have been eliminated; what is left; no matter how unlikely; MUST be the truth."

And, based on that, I feel the probability that McCain claiming to be a Vietnam POW to be right up there with him claiming to be an alien abductee. I may NOT be right; but you must admit it IS a distinct possibility.

Time was when McCain in his present state could not have gotten elected. He seems troubled and angry. He is a liar. But I look at GWB and I get scared. I saw the same things in him and didn't vote for him. He was always pissed and didn't seem to like anyone. Not everyone shared my views. Not just one term but two. I couldn't believe it. Why does anyone believe that McCain would make a good president? This man has a past and it's time we knew about it. Thanks, ANNA

McCain was tortured and he cracked and has never truly recovered. He is extremely angry as a result of his torture and full of rage. He is very disturbed and as a result is very dangerous. We must all be forewarned, of elected prez he will have his hand on the Big Red Button. This guy is just as dangerous as Bush/Cheney. They are all barely in control of themselves, and I do mean barely as in borderline. The rethugs may like him but that reveals what is at the very core of repug values, namely, greed, profit and money are far more important than human beings or human values. And the past and current popes of my church endorse and support the rethug party of thugs and bullies. That tells me all I need to know about what has happen to catholicism, as does their protecting of pedophile priests.
