Part II: America's shocking complicity with Saddam: betraying the Shiite rebellion of 1991 [VIDEO]

Posted by Barry Lando at 6:48 AM on January 22, 2007.

In 1991, Bush 41 called on Iraqis to rebel, then turned his back... actually aiding Saddam to repress the rebellion.

This is the second set of excerpts from the American debut of "The Trial of Saddam Hussein We’ll Never See." The first can be found HERE. Digg this story so more people see it, HERE.

Officials of the Special Iraqi Tribunal have announce that some 100 former Iraqi officials will be tried later this year for their part in what was Saddam’s most horrific slaughter: the killing of tens –possibly hundreds—of thousands of Shiites following their uprising in 1991.

In the lengthy AP report announcing those charges there was not a word of the complicity of President George W.H. Bush and American forces in that slaughter. That’s been typical of the American media all along.

The shameful tale of the 91 uprising was another segment of the documentary I did, with reporter Michel Despratx, for Canal + in France. It was later shown in several countries; never in the United States. It is also the theme of my new book “Web of Deceit: The History of Foreign Complicity in Iraq from Churchill to Kennedy to George W. Bush.”

To view part one of our segment on the 91 uprising click right.

To view part two—how the U.S. turned its back on the 91 uprising and helped Saddam to annihilate the Shiites—click the second frame right.

After you’ve viewed these segments, take another look at that AP dispatch.

If you want to encourage more people to view these excerpts, go to Youtube, rate the segments, add your comments, and–if you feel the extracts merit it–save them to your “favorites”.

I think Bush senior's plan was genius, albeit evil genius. The whole goal was divide and conquer and what better way then to promote sectarian conflict? It worked for a generation in Iraq vs Iran war and can work again. The stupid neo-cons are the only ones who thought we could create a democracy. Bush senior, Baker III, etc had no such illusions and was never a goal for them. Now that they are back in charge via Democrat Congress and the Iraq Study Group the plan is back to the original scheme.

As if we needed more evidence...

...that Shrub and his father are guilty of war crimes and should be tried, convicted and probably executed for the same.

Will they? …of course not. The money and power structure are too great to overcome. But that does not mean the truth is any less real.

Anyone that voted for (and especially those that still support) this gang of war criminals is equally bound to this immorality. And of course these people are ironically the good Christians of this country.

If this episode in our history does not convince you there is NOT a god...I do not know what will. In fact recent research is showing that more people are questioning the concept of theism more than ever and finding atheism to be more plausible.

If there is one good thing to come out of the Shrub era, this is it…exposing the evil forces behind religion, as he almost alone has exposed this charade possibly more than any person in recent history. You would think more religious leaders would recognize the harm he is doing to their business (yes it is a BUSINESS), but I guess they are blinded by their dogma.

Can anyone really be surprised? If people would put down their remote and reach for a book they might know these things. There are countless books and now DVD's that reveal American atrocities. American's are like mushrooms; kept in the dark and fed bull shit. The information will not come to you, you must go to it. Read foreign newpapers and find out what is really happening around the world. The corporate owned US media will only tell you what they want you to hear/see. Has anyone listened to Hugo's speech or just heard the sound bites? There is a movement in Canada right now resisting the North American Union. Unfortunately, most Americans don't have a clue that is is happening. Too bad we preach to the choir on Alternet.
