In the video to the right, Seattle Democrat Jim McDermott mentions Joshua Holland's AlterNet article, Bush's Petro-Cartel Almost Has Iraq's Oil, several times to point out how under-covered this crucial issue is.

Part one of the article is HERE and Part two is HERE.

Those who have been paying attention have forseen this for years. It only takes the smallest drop cynicism to think that a bunch of oil and war profiteers would occupy the houses of government for the soul purpose of increasing their wealth and power. And they have been doing just that.

I wish I had the funds to purchase a copy of Palast's book, Armed Madhouse for every person in congress.

I hate to be pessimistic, but those articles by Joshua Holland were published on Alternet back in October 2006. I printed copies and did my part distributing and emailing them. What takes so long... why can't the media cover this? Does everyone in the media have dual citizenship and homes in other countries to escape to when this country goes down? It takes more than 'flag waving' to be a true patriot. Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Too bad McDermott presented this so poorly, especially the ending... rushed for his time he just fritters out. Arg. Public Speaking 101, people!

I'm glad he did it though. Go Josh! Have a microbrew on me!

Nice plug for Alternet as well.

Unfortunately there was no mention of the still secret session that blackhearted Shooter Cheney held with the still 'confidential' group of oil industry barrons. What, pray tell, was on the table, up for grabs, divvied up amongst cronies while implementing ways to discredit environmentalists? The who's, what's & dirty dealing details have so far been 'classified' as are all pertinent documentation under this corrupt administration's unitary power grab mentality. It is certainly not news that the invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with 'protecting our homeland". These facts MUST be exposed, not on C-SPAN, but everywhere before this escalation, supposedly meant for Iraq (though Iran seems to be the true target), changes the subject yet again and Americans, short attention span sufferers as they have proven themselves, find themselves forever being at war. Blood for oil - yes! These masters of the universe wannabes will stop at nothing. It is all they are truly qualified to do. It's been their shared wet dream for neocon ages!

The Real News

This "troop surge" stuff is little more than a media smoke screen for the real news in Iraq. The real news (thank you Joshua Holland!) is this legislation, which finally reveals the truth about this war... waged by our oil mogul for president. 3,000 plus soldiers (and countless more Iraqis!) have died so the rich can get richer, not so that we can be safer. When are our elected officials going to start doing their job and put an end to this nonsense? Impeachment is not enough. That president (I won't even write his name because it disgusts me) needs to be removed from office before he wreaks any more havoc on this country or the world.
