Vanessa at Feministing alerted me to this L-Word episode squeezing every last drop of drama out of the fake abortion clinic phenomenon.

They're known in "polite" circles as Crisis Pregnancy Centers, or CPCs.

It's true that these clinics often employ deceptive and downright emotionally manipulative tactics to harass women out of their decision to have an abortion, but this depiction seems a bit over the top to me.

The asskicking pregnant woman is played by all-around asskicker Pam Grier. Vanessa writes: "While it was pretty terrifying to see a depiction of what they put these poor women through, it was dope to see Grier go buck wild on their deceiving asses.

Hey, it's TV, whaddya want?

Digg!

When will people get this simple idea...

.... comitting a sin against one's god (lying, murder, assault, etc..) in the name of stopping another person from sinning (getting an abortion) is monstrous and wrong. The Christian god does NOT ask followers to justify sinful means with holy ends. The Christian god ONLY asks that one love god and OBEY the law of god... not force that law on others while disregarding it!

I think Pam Grier should be sent to solve a lot more problems. Would Cleopatra Jones put up with these sh*theads? No. She'd unleash some bad-assssssss kung-fu and break their sternums. Of course on TV they have to make it metaphorical kung-fu, after all violence doesn't solve anything, right?

Admonish and Judging Not the Same

To admonish is to reprove gently but seriously or to give friendly advice or encouragement. To judge is to form an authoritive opinion (Webster’s Dictionary)

Admonishing and judging are two different terms and two totally different meanings. They are not the same by no means; what the right to lifers do is judge they do not admonish.

Jesus’ teaching of the two greatest commandments meant that to follow those two commandments you could not break the 10. The first 4 commandments deal with our relationship with God and the other 6 deal with our relationship with humankind.

Jesus also taught in the same Sermon: “Do not judge. For you too will be judged. For the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1-2.

What is the definition of legal?

All I can say, I am glad I was of reproducing age when abortion was "legal" in the USA. My friends and I were treated respectfully regarding any reproductive rights... men and women alike. Remember... men are part of the equation regarding women and pregnancy.

I find it ironical that its okay to kill a baby in the the stomach and its call ABORTION, but if you move the baby outside the stomach, its MURDER. Its amazing that one inch piece of skin makes such a difference. Like the excuses these women use as, "I'ts my body," What about the baby body??? Abortions are for women who are so irresponsible and stupid and apparently so HOT TO TROT they can't use birth control or condums. Abortioists are murderers no matter what name they call themselves! A rape victim or incest would be a different story!

Many young women today do no realize

what it was like before Rowe v Wade. It wasn't that many years ago when an unmarried woman did not want to be SEEN buying birth control, or even admitted to having sex with anyone she wasn't married to.

It is also upsetting when tv shows feature large families, as if that was something great. Montel Williams featured of family of 16 children a few days ago. They should not be glorified, they should be condemned. But born again Christian f---heads want to keep women subservient breeders.

Grier's character's reponse was not excessive. I would have responded the same way. I don't think anyone would disagree that this is a very emotional topic on both sides of the issue.

What about rights of the individual?
Posted by: Bearzerker on Jan 10, 2007 2:35 PM

We all live on this planet and must all get along.

The simple truth to this debate is that the religious right always seem to ignore the simple fact that its about the rights of the individual... or doesn't a person have the right to decide what is or isn't done to their body be it blood transfusions, abortion or the right to die.

The choice is rather simple, its between families (mother/father) & doctors and as as long as a doctor agrees with the decision made by the family involved every one else has no legal input as to what one person can do to their body.
Its the right of freewill, anything else is unconstitutional and Anti-American

Anyways, what does religion or morality have to do with a medical decision in the first place.
Is there a separation of church and state or not?

I always try to remember that one persons vision of heaven is anothers vision of hell.
I cannot comprehend spending eternity with a Falwell or the other brain dead freeloaders spinning hate outta love.

What people don't realize either

If you don't want your baby it will end up in a trash can whether or not you get an abortion. I suppose those pro-lifers don't think past that do they? Or it will be in the wellfare system and juvenile hall costing the taxpayers tons of money. But I guess the pro-lifers don't care about the QUALITY of that life. Rights of a baby indeed. What about those women who will do anything to get an abortion like before Roe v.s. Wade and try it with Coat hangers and back alley abortions where countless of women died. When you are poor and shit outta luck, who is gonna raise your baby? Do those pro-lifers step up to the plate and offer financial assistance or stay up with an unwanted baby all night? Pro-lifers suck.

An Incredibly Stupid Debate

Liberals like to paint anti abortion advocates as a bunch of religious flakes, however just the opposite is true. In the United States it is a felony to attempt and to commit
Suicide. It is a felony to assist an individual in attempting to commit Suicide. It is even against federal law--and a felony--for a Doctor to prescribe Marijuana to help ease patient pain.
Now given the above facts, why would it be logical or rational to kill (termimate) a viable fetus?
Feminists want the government (i.e. more repsonsible taxpayers) to pay for these services and they want the government to pay for all the children that fall through the "abortion crack" and are accidently born.
As a country, we need a middle ground. But the pro abortion solution is just as wrong as saying that there are no circumstances when one should or should not abort.
We wrongly call this "The Abortion Debate," But this is really a debate as to how we live our lives, our values and what we believe and do not believe in. This is really a battle for the soul of America. Sadly Feminists have turned our lives into: Mothers with no Husbands, Children with no interactive Fathers. Fathers with only financial responsibilities and no moral responsibilities whatsoever..
Feminists have turned our daughters into carricatures of women--Britney Spears/
Christina Aguilera slut wannabes. Our boys are nothing more than potential date rapists. Husbands are mere sperm doners. And women are supposed to consider an abortion with the same flippancy as discussing loosing water weight.
We need to generate policies that effectly penalize people--both men and women-- for out of wedlock births, make it very costly to engage in sex while out of wedlock and make it extremely difficult for people to have children while unmarried.
We need real men and women to engage in real dialogue that takes into consideration both the positives and the inherent negatives of their respective genders. Doing so is the first meaninful step in changing this incrediblly stupid debate.
It is imperative that Progressives redefine the parameters of this debate. As a nation, we can certainly do better than this.

Yep. Not much on earth will stop a woman from killing her baby if it interferes with her self actualizing ability. "Woman kills her baby" was a headline not that not that long ago the society would go to General Quarter's on.

What a sad commentary on America.

The next time somebody asks you: "Why do the Islamist's hate us?" Give them the truthful answer. "They hate us for killing babies, for exporting gratuitous sexual imagery and gratuitous violence."

They ain't against our Bill of Rights. They're against our 'way of life' the spawns abortion and euthanasia.....mainstreams porn..presented under the guise of virtuous choice. Makes one sick to see how far we've deteriorated.

Abortion isn't the tip of the problem. It is the from which all of our other social problems flow. It is the foundation of how sick we've become.

Kill a baby! Say it again, she's going to kill her baby! Say it thrice: She's going to kill her baby!

She thinks it will make her an un-mother.

It won't.

It'll just make her the mother of a dead baby.

Kill a baby? Unfathomable that we think we can get away with it.
