John Edwards, is wasting no time positioning himself and -- thank freaking God -- his competition.
He announced his '08 candidacy in casual-Friday digs in the Katrina-ravaged 9th Ward of New Orleans, continuing his populist message of the "two Americas" from the last go-round.
As Bob Geiger noted last week, he's also attacking on what the press, taking its cues from political strategists, is likely to label his "weakness," foreign policy, challenging Americans to "be patriotic about something beyond war," taking a firm stance against what he's calling "the McCain Doctrine" of escalating the war by sending more troops. (first video right)
Zing! A bumper sticker in the era of bumper sticker politics...
In the second clip, Edwards takes on Bush's weak pronouncement that Americans should "go shopping," asking: "What planet is he living on?"
