George H. W. Bush burst into tears during Jeb Bush's final leadership forum as Governor of Florida. Inexplicably, the former president's voice broke as he described Jeb's loss in the governor's race in 1994. (He went on to win the next time.)

The former president explained that Jeb had some rough times in that race but, "He didn't whine about it, and he didn't complain." With that Bush Sr. burst into tears.

This is a sad clip to watch. The look of anguish on the former president's face is doesn't seem to match the content of his remarks. One can't help but wonder whether Bush Sr. is inwardly comparing Jeb's fortitude to that of his other son, George W. Bush.

"The true measure of a man is how you handle victory, and also defeat," the former president said, before breaking down again.

George Bush, Sr. realizes that the Bush dynasty is over.

This death-of-a-dynasty is two generations late but still welcome.

I also think that Bush 41 was really crying for Bush 43 and not for Jeb who will probably extend the Bush dynasty of corrupt repub politics, just as he did in Fla during the elections that he and Katherine Harris manipulated. One can only hope and pray that this corrupt and dysfunctional family which has brought so much corruption into american life and politics and should never talk about character and leadership, as none of them have any of either. I have no sympathy for Bush 41 as it was he and his wife who caused all of what has happened to America as they nearly destroyed not only our political system but also our cherished democratic values and institutions and may have shredded our Constitution beyond repair, time will tell. This one family from Texass has done an incredible amount of damage to America and is directly responsible for the deaths of many American citizens and troops and and many hundreds of thousands of Iraqis'. That is what he should cry for, cry for America and all the people who have died because of the Bush family. I most certainly hope and pray that the Bush dynasty is over and that their dark shadow may never cross our political landscape again, or better yet our american landscape again, Either this family should never leave Texass or better yet I hope they are so threatened by so many investigations that they are as scared as they have made the rest of us feel for the last six years that georgie boy resigns and the entire family moves to all that land they bought in Paraguay. May God protect America from any more Bushs'. But then none of them are very bright nor are they patriotic at all. To them republicanism comes way before american patriotism.

PRAY FOR PEACE

it aint over. Remember that his best friend Clinton and he have an agreement to share the executive power between their dynasties. Sure, "Bill" is from Arkansas but he is no good ole boy or anything. He was picked out to become a Rhodes Scholar and understands, and despertly wants, to become a blue-blood also. Read some history of Cecil Rhodes and tell me how 'good' the Rhodes Scholar program is. Hillary is next in line per the agreement, sure, but there will be another Bush afterwards.

This looks more like an emotional act to prepare the jump into the presideny than anything else.

Jeb is the one who the family is counting at. W is the idiot in the house, Jeb is everything W is not, so daddy will do his best to get him elected as the next US president.

You will see in a few years, you people are so forgetfull that you will vote for him :)

I had foisted a dysfunctional family like the Bushes on the American people and took a look at the damage they have done not only our country but to the world with no end in sight.

Has anyone even considered that this sad display just might be an act? I mean, look what's happened: Old George is past it, young George is outed for the inept/corrupt fool he is. So, who's left? Yup, good 'ol Jeb. And can you think of a better way to get the republican base turned on and onside than a beloved father and former leader weeping for his 'poor, innocent, misunderstood' son.

If this is in fact a tactic - it does have something of that odious Rovian stench about it - then all you have to do is figure out how to stop the GOP faithful from falling for it, no small order I know. But make no mistake, this is potentially very dangerous - unless you don't have a problem with another prickly bush in the White House.

it is pathetic. Was the old babe Barbara crying too? She spawned these three evil devils. She must be so proud. I only cry for all of the victims of the Bush family's evil policies. They are all murderers.

I didn't think the old man had any emotional capacity whatsovever. He's probably really crying because his fratboy spawn screwed up his grand scheme for world domination.

So poor Jeb had a rough time..??

Compared to what Jeb did to Michael Schiavo nothing else comes even close to a "rough time". Hopefully there will be a special place in hell for Jeb.

............but only compared with his lying, lazy, imbecile brother, W. But anyone would look good in that comparison, even Elmer Fudd or Bugs Bunny. W is a disaster beyond all estimation, and I would not vote for Jeb on the grounds that he carries the same religious stupidity and utter lack of morals.

I think America deserves to be off the World stage for a very long time. Two major regional wars is two, too many, and the Americans have refused to act kindly, fairly, smartly or honorable toward other nations and other peoples.

By making America number one, we are now unable to handle the pressure or the responsiblity that great Nations need if they are to pilot the world through the rough waters of reality and leadership.
We need to slow down, and take our rightful place at this time with the other failed empires and stop exploting the earth for the purposes of dominating the world. We need to put our focus on solving our own problems, like the energy crises with our own resources and creativity.
If we are a great Nation, we have to stand up and admit our mistakes and make amends, even if it breaks the bank.
