Colbert's latest word focuses on the recent news, as depressing as it is unsurprising, that "The Christian Coalition voted to accept President-elect Reverend Joel C. Hunter's resignation before he started because he wanted to expand their core issues beyond the confines of an anti-abortion, anti-homosexuality agenda?" (For more on why the CC is "more pathetic than loathsome," read this post on the CC and women's bodies...).

The hat tip on the video goes to one of my new favorite bloggers, JW Harrison, who captures this snippet about a little known, and wholly unsurprising, aspect of Stephen Colbert's character:

"I love my Church, and I’m a Catholic who was raised by intellectuals, who were very devout. I was raised to believe that you could question the Church and still be a Catholic. What is worthy of satire is the misuse of religion for destructive or political gains. That’s totally different from the Word, the blood, the body and the Christ. His kingdom is not of this earth."

I rarely watch internet videos, because our connection just isn't good enough. So I really appreciate transcripts. That's a request from a faithful reader: please post transcripts of video you consider important.
