A BBC mini-documentary (watch first half to the right) follows the trail of accidental investigative journalist and playwright, Shane O'Sullivan, as he pursues the nagging question: why were Kennedy-hating CIA agents at the hotel the night of his murder?

This footage comes from the indispensable Newsnight, which appears on BBC2 on weeknights. They have the whole thing on the site HERE.

UPDATE: Several readers have written to tell me they're having trouble watching the second half on the BBC site. I've posted the rest here...

is almost complete now. Look at the 'spin' that is used. Today is operation "Care Across America" a cop every 10 miles on I-40 from NorthCarolina to California. Yes, they really care! Really they just want us, and our children, to get used to seeing cops and military on every street corner.

They are building 'watch towers' in Harleem (a primarily black neighborhood.) I guess using some techniques from the RUC in N.Ireland. Is Harleem 'occupied' territory?

We will need to "produce our papers" everywhere we go soon. Of course illegal immigrants don't need them- but any US citizen must be able to show papers!

COUNTERINTELLIGENCE PROGRAM
BLACK NATIONALIST - HATE GROUPS
RACIAL INTELLIGENCE 3/4/68

GOALS
~~~~~
For maximum effectiveness of the Counterintelligence Program, and
to prevent wasted effort, long-range goals are being set.
1. Prevent the COALITION of militant black nationalist groups. In
unity there is strength; a truism that is no less valid for all its
triteness. An effective coalition of black nationalist groups might be the
first step toward a real "Mau Mau"in America,
the beginning of a true black revolution.
2. Prevent the RISE OF A "MESSIAH" who could unify, and
electrify, the militant black nationalist movement. Malcolm X might have
been such a "messiah;" he is the martyr of the movement today. Martin
Luther King, Stokely Carmichael and Elijah Muhammed all aspire to this
position. Elijah Muhammed is less of a threat because of his age. King
could be a very real contender for this position should he abandon his
supposed "obedience" to "white, liberal doctrines" (nonviolence) and embrace
black nationalism. Carmichael has the necessary charisma to be a real
threat in this way.
3. Prevent VIOLENCE on the part of black nationalist groups. This
is of primary importance, and is, of course, a goal of our investigative
activity; it should also be a goal of the Counterintelligence Program to
pinpoint potential troublemakers and neutralize them before they
exercise their potential for violence.
4. Prevent militant black nationalist groups and leaders from
gaining RESPECTABILITY, by discrediting them to three separate segments of
the community. The goal of discrediting black nationalists must be handled
tactically in three ways. You must discredit those groups and individuals
to, first, the responsible Negro community. Second, they must be
discredited to the white community, both the responsible community and to
"liberals" who have vestiges of sympathy for militant black nationalist
simply because they are Negroes. Third, these groups must be
discredited in the eyes of Negro radicals, the followers of the movement.
This last area requires entirely different tactics from the first two.
Publicity about violent tendencies and radical statements merely enhances
black nationalists to the last group; it adds "respectability" in a different
way.
5. A final goal should be to prevent the long-range GROWTH of
militant black organizations, especially among youth. Specific tactics to
prevent these groups from converting young people must be developed.
TARGETS
~~~~~~~

Primary targets of the Counterintelligence Program, Black
Nationalist-Hate Groups, should be the most violent and radical groups and
their leaders. We should emphasize those leaders and organizations that
are nationwide in scope and are most capable of disrupting this country.
These targets, members, and followers of the:

Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee
Southern Christian Leadership Conference
Revolutionary Action Movement
NATION OF ISLAM

Offices handling these cases and those of Stokely Carmichael of
SNCC, H. Rap Brown of SNCC, Martin Luther King of SCLC, Maxwell Stanford of
RAM, and Elijah Muhammed of NOI, should be alert for counterintelligence
suggestions.

Why would they

Why would the CIA have had any interest in killing either JFK or RFK? Both were quite happy to accept and cultivate the use of anti-communism as a rationale for the projection of US military foce and espionage. Neither displayed any serious commitment to social change that might be seen as threatening to the established order (irony: it was LBJ, chosen as VP to appease southern whites, who actually was committed to desegregation and anti-poverty programs).

JFK and RFK were all talk and no walk, arrogant products of a rich elite who wanted nothing more than to be powerful and glamorous players on the international stage. The hero worship that has gone on by liberals requires a complete disregard for not only their actual policy program together, but also a willful ignorance of the drastically expanded array of primary sources now available on their actions and discussions behind the scenes. (e.g., audio tapes clearly show that the brothers were racist; callous about civilian deaths; and that they saw the struggle over desegregation as a chance to win battles over political turf, not as a matter of justice; moreover, they were so clueless about foreign policy matters that it's truly painful and embarassing to hear them talk about it - JFK: "If Russia has missiles in Cuba, that's like us having missiles in Turkey" Adviser: "Actually, sir, we do.")

JFK and RFK were both in on the early discussions and crucial policy decisions that created the Vietnam catastrophe (a tragedy for America, a holocaust for the Vietnamese). There is no evidence that RFK had significantly changed beyond his speeches. JFK gave good speeches too. But when push came to shove, they protected their own interests, no matter who got hurt or killed.

Let it go. Real liberal or progressive politics has to be about local organizing and alternative institution-building, not looking up to some surrogate-Daddy figure to fix everything.

10 SHOTS FIRED FROM AN 8-BULLET GUN - guess Sirhan was just REALLY eager...

.
FBI-reports say 10 shots were fired in the RFK-murder, Sirhan Sirhan's .22 held 8 cartridges max. Sirhan was some feet in front, while the killing shot was fired from behind at maximum inches away.

It's obvious that the sly arab bastard had a magic gun, the kind of secret magic weapon we all know so well that the devious arabs have by inferring from the "1001-nights"-tales. Right?

*

The ability of the corruption-riddled elite to keep the responsibility-pointing for the JFK, MLK, RFK-assassinations off the table, is astounding.

It is as if the conclusion is that
1) these guys aren't really dead,
2) no one's to blame really, or - if pressed
3) it's just a mystery never to be solved how these hope-bringing leaders were really killed, because the clues never actually add up to anything but a "lone killer" being extremely, magically lucky.

Or ultimately 4) let it go, we got better things to do than unravelling how politics got so badly away from the people as we can see today.

Ole Ullern

Historical facts are important for many reasons

First of all, this story lets people know that the government lies and that the media repeat the lies; this is going on today as well. As to 'why the CIA would have done it', there were many vested interests who wanted to see the Vietnam war continue - it was very profitable for the arms industry - guess who had the military supply contract for Vietnam?

The same corporate conglomerates that operate today! From Brown Brothers Harriman to Kellogg Brown and Root to Halliburton - it's a long unbroken chain stretching back to WWII.

Of course, it could have been some manic individuals acting on their own due to holding a grudge over the Bay of Pigs affair.

In either case, this story sheds more light on a murkey subject in US history. Our government has a good proportion of criminals inside it; there are people who do believe in serving their country, but there are plenty more who are there for reasons of personal power and greed (Cheney and Rumsfeld come to mind). They have good propaganda systems in place that are tightly linked to certain media outlets and personalities.

Has the corporate media covered this story? Quick search shows that neither the New York Times, LA Times or Washington Post has touched it.

It's a lot like this recent assaination of a Christian leader, Gemayal, in Lebanon. There are a lot of people who want to see the MidEast destablilized and Lebanon plunged into civil war - everyone from Al Queda to Israel to the Saudis to the neocons to the arms dealers. Who killed him? We don't know. Maybe someday a film will appear, and people will be able to identify the actors, and things will become more clear.

Now, about those anthrax attacks of 9/18 and 10/9 - who was behind that? That's the story that remains untold; in fact the truth is fairly obvious - the US government biowarfare sector was behind it - most likely Battelle Memorial Institue, the sole producers of the anthrax vaccine and experts in high-tech aerosolization of bacterial spores and other materials. Battelle'e tentacles reach through the US nuclear and biowarfare sectors; some have accused them of being a front for the CIA or the DIA... Battelle scientists can't leave the country without recieving written permission... and they've just invested in active RFID spychips as welll.... This is probably a more important topic than the assassination of Bobby Kennedy.

These people do not work for the President but are just supposed to protect important individuals. Their weapons are unlisted and never "manufactured" (no serial numbers or production runs). The use of a firearm is made moot by reaming or replacement of the rifle or pistol barrel, and putting in a new trigger. There are now people closer to power that have power or are connected to power.

Bobby Kennedy was assassinated by CIA. That's not hard to figure out.

I guess AlerNet can't ignore it anymore after BBC notices.

Hey AlterNet, how about all those other obvious conspiracies you actively try to cover up, until, I guess BBC finally admits to them?

London 7-7
9-11
Oklahoma City
WTC 1993
BCCI
Iran Contra/Cocaine for arms
TWA Flight 800
RFK
MLK
JFK
CIA drug running continues to this second.

Give me a break. Who cares if 3 CIA flunkie killers participated? What is important is who pulled their strings, Johnson, GHW Bush, etc. We want the top guys in the conspiracy. These 3 flunkies are only a bit more meaningful than Sirhan-Sirhan. Yeah, it gives proof there was a conspiracy when before we all suspected it, but had no proof. More obvious proof is how a real investigation of the JFK, RFK and King assassinations have never been thoroughly investigated. The Warren Commission report was an obvious whitewash about as convincing as the 9/11 Commission report. What it proves is that our government was lost not during the current administration but as far back in 1963.

When you're talking about truth every little bit helps in the path toward justice. When truth becomes a mountain then you can take the criminals out of power as a matter of immediate power and as a matter of historical power. The last thing we need is to have government of the assassins, by the assassins and for the assassins. Apparently that is just the kind of government we have today in USA, Russia, etc.
