In today's War & Peace Report, Democracy Now! reported on the lack of coverage concerning the major decision that came down last week regarding the president's illegal and unconstitutional wiretapping program. Somehow, the JonBenet Ramsey case is much, much, much more important to the TV networks. Nevermind that historic ruling about how the president is torching the Constitution, the American public needs to focus on a 10 year old murder case.

Our friends at Think Progress broke down the coverage on the day the decision came in:

"ABC devoted twice as much time to Ramsey as it did to the NSA story. More egregiously, CBS offered seven times as much airtime to Ramsey as it did to the NSA story, while NBC devoted 15 times more airtime. Below is a comparison of the allocation of time made by each network:

NETWORK----RAMSEY SEGMENT---NSA SEGMENT

NBC-----------------7:39-----------------0:27

CBS-----------------3:23-----------------0:25

ABC-----------------4:03-----------------2:00

And thanks to the joys of video blogging, having to submit myself to hours of mind numbing "news" coverage, I know these numbers have only gotten worse. If you know of any updated comparison numbers, email me.

Unfortunately, it just doesn't matter. The judge in question has already been painted with the dreaded "liberal / activist" brush by the MSM. Gonzalez and the Supremes will most certainly overturn it if Bush even bothers with the charade of taking it through the courts. He's been doing it illegally for years-why does anyone think he'll stop because of this?

The vast ignorant majority of the American public doesn't care. They think "I'm not doing anything bad so they can listen to my phone conversations or read my mail and email."

"First they came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was Protestant.
By the time they came for me, there was nobody left to speak up."

(One of several variations of a poem by Martin Niemoller)

Considering this administration, who's surprised?

It's been evident for a long time that we have our priorities skewed. Or could it just be that the press, constantly villified by this administration, just wanted to escape a bit more administrative venom?

Considering the cover on the NY Times the next morning showed a photo of our Puppet Attorney General, and the caption saying that this administration plans to continue its survelliance as it is "for the good of the American people." Even in the recent British case, the illegal wiretapping in this country did nothing. Had Britain and Pakistan not acted on this, we would have had our airliners blown out of the sky like so many birthday balloons.

Are we becoming apathetic or complacent? Don't we care that those in this administration, including the President and Vice President, are continually violating the very Constitution they swore to protect and defend? Most of our problems were not started by 9/11. They were started by an admitted act of agression by our own government. Why are we allowing them to try to write laws into the Constitution making the burning of the flag illegal, when we should be trying to do something about this administration who is spitting on it?

Bush said, and it is documented and verified, "Screw the Constitutution. It's nothing but a Goddamn piece of paper." This recent promise to ignore the rulling of the high court should only serve to remind us once more that we need to take our country back.

It's time to stop blowing smoke up the country's ass and start dealing with the more important issues, such as rescuing our country from the hands of an administration who could care less about it.

Ah...for the good old days when all we worried about was a president lying about a personal affair.

I read something interesting yesterday that goes along with my thoughts that the wire tapping served one purpose and that was to blackmail key members of Congress.

In yesterday's post in another forum, a poster reminded us of the Anthrax sent to Senators Leahy and Daschle. Yes, the poster said, Congress is being blackmailed & THREATENED with their own dose of Anthrax.

Considering how brazen the squatter in the oval office has been about his criminal activities, a continued anthrax threat should not be a real surprise to any of us.

Don't forget that this Anthrax was a high grade strain that came from our own military. Who would have the means to access that? Think current vice president, Dick Cheney, evil, snarling human being who has also openly exposed his own brazen lies, cheating & exposing a CIA agent, among other things.

Call me a conspiracy nut if you desire but I don't think anything is beyond these corrupt, lying vermin.
