Medea Benjamin, of Code Pink: Women for Peace, stole some of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's thunder when she crashed the joint session of congress and started shouting 'Iraqis want the troops to leave; bring them home now.'

Code Pink is taking part in Troops Home Fast, a hunger strike started by another famous war protestor--Cindy Sheehan.

Digg!

Code Pink! Everything must be about some identity group

I am sure that this activism by Code Pink (meant to show that they are aligned with some Identity Group--women? gays?) will resonate with Joe and Jane Sixpack and the general public out there in suburbia/exurbia.

Yeah, right!

Somehow, somehow, it is always the Identity politics crowd that gets the publicity. You couldn't run an intervierw with some mechanic while he was working on some transmission, and show how he wants the gubbmint to stop spending money on missiles and start spending money on healthcare. Oh, no. That sort of article might actually attract the attention of Joe and Jane Sixpack and cause real change. Instead, publicize the actuvism of unusual people--radical feminists, gays, etc. Show America that leftism is not for the ordinary person, but for the oddballs. Way to go, way to maintain the status quo.

I know what side you are on.

"Iraquis want the troops to leave; Bring them home now."

Almost all Iraquis want American forces to leave their country on a short timetable. Why are we still spending BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars, spilling blood, and causing misery in a counter-productive, stupid war started with Bush administration gross misrepresentations - LIES! I'll tell you why... the American taxpayer is subsidizing obscene profits for the oil and defense industries with equally obscene HUGE budget deficits that will bankrupt our economy and pinch nearly every American for a generation.

Thank God for people like Medea Benjamin who cut through the crap and loudly assert the simple and powerful truth, that is politely ignored and muted in the halls of the powerful.

What gives us the right to meddle in other people's affairs anyway? Why can't America keep it's metaphorical hands to itself.

How would you feel if your neighbors took up residence in your home after breaking down your front door and hauling off your loud-mouthed abusive father, messing up your house, and then insisting that they will set things straight for you after they rearrange all your broken furniture, replace the locks on your windows and doors, and repair your utility connections while they restructure the conditions of your home loan for you? Would you want them hanging out in your living room and checking your ID before you could go to the kitchen?

Forget the stop loss and the multiple tours of duty, just bring the troops home and let faithful military families reunite with their sons and daughters.

Americans don't belong in the Middle East cleaning up the mess caused by LIES and our power hungry, GREEDY Repugnicans.

satire: ahhh! non-ballot box participation in civil society sure is radical! those loony feminists! pink? what a GAY color! this isn't going to go over well in the fall elections! sure to hurt the dems! whatever.

seriously: unperson, man, do i wish CNN dedicated hours of programming a day to unbiased interviewing of joe and jane sixpack, instead of occaisonally citing doctored, near-meaningless poll data (if we're lucky) or parroting big business and the administration. but they don't. mainstream media is a top-down, corporate affair, and worse: jane/joe are likely to get most of their information from it.

i also wish joe and jane sixpack had the time for the amazing promise of democratic self-governance. but poor jane and joe are working longer and harder for less money these days, and things seem to be getting more expensive. at the end of the work day, who wouldn't want to kick back and let the public/private rulers run things? especially when there's so much great stuff on tv.

In our town, we have 400 people involved in our CodePink: Women for Peace. Not the fringe, but women who pay taxes, raise children and offer their services and talents in a multitude of ways.

We have men who support us and we insist that we end this war now and use our resources for life sustaining activities.

ALL the BIG media outets are picking up the Code Pink War Protest news story

As you can see from this google news query all of the very biggest news outlets are picking up this story about how Code Pink, aka feminists, are protesting the war. Now, do you think if some one had interviewing Joe Plumber talking about how he wanted the gubbmint to stop spending money on missles and start spending it on healthcare, do you think all these elite media would have run the story? No, of course not. Anti-War and other leftist ideas are contained in the Identity Politics ghetto by a collaboration of the elite media and the non profit organizations like Code Pink. Identity politics nonprofits like code pink are funded by the upper class and get publicity in the elite media because it serves their purposes of dividing up America and cordoning off leftism away from white males and rural and exurbia--this segment makes up the bulk of America. The nonprofits and the media collaborate to work up a race and gender war between the working class. The so-called "left" always take the minority and female viewpoint and the talk radio take the white male viewpoint.

The rich reward the nonprofits like Code Pink with fat grants so that their officers can live well.

THe merry go round of American pseudoPolitics never ends cuz the sheeple are too caught up in hating each other to see what is going on.

We need more women to wake up and take back their power... or the neocons are going to take us and our children farther down the road to war in their quest for global domination thru forced drugging of our children, polluting our food and water, global warming on purpose.. and other horrors including American Internment Camps.

See these new sites for peace Angels For Truth.com and Mothers For Truth.com and Resurrecting Liberty.com to see how far down the rabbit hole goes.

God Bless Code Pink and AlterNet
We need more like them.
