Senate Republicans killed a bid to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25. The bill needed 60 votes to pass but only received 52.

Amazingly, the minimum wage has been stuck at $5.15 since 1997. A fulltime worker making minimum wage would earn only $10,700 per year. Meanwhile, Congressional pay has increased by $31,600 since '97.

Hmm, what do you think Jon Stewart would have to say about this?

"The lower strata of American society has had a free ride for too long. And, if you were to give them $7.25 an hour, you know it would just go, you know, up their nose and through their hose.… Kudos to Congress for taking a giant shit on the poorest in the country!"

The republicans are messing with whomever they can when they think they can get away with it. My SSI disability check just took a big hit due to their new policies. We need to gt these people out of government.

Mr. Stewart points out, quite correctly, that this Congress is the worst in our nation's history. The current minimum wage should be applied to every member of this disgraceful "lawmaking" group of thugs and killers. That these people are in power is all thanks to Diebold and the lack of paper trails at the polling places. The moron called "president" can't speak his own thoughts out loud, for he has a minimum vocubulary, and all he wages is war and dissention. It's so late to stop all of this, but stop it we must, or minimum wages won't matter any more than the lost lives of our troops who are forced to fight a "war" that isn't. This is a nation led by dirty rotten bastards...every single one of them, and they're all getting richer and richer with more power.
Somebody prove me wrong...please!!

Heard it too: remember that John Mitchell said, "Watch what we do, not what we say." This administration is defiantly slicing away our rights as well as our best interests--and they use any means to achieve their belief of "Power and Money Help Each Other."
Our Congress is nothing but a joint effort of bargaining for bucks--and they want ours.

"Whatsoever you do to the least unto these, you do unto me". Let's cut these hypocrites' wages. And they turn around and call themselves Christians. Disgusting.

We live in a country where immorality starts at the top and trickles down to the street level. When congress votes itself another pay raise but refuses to raise the minimum wage for the poor among us, how can we expect our children to ever believe in leading a moral life? When the least among us are unable to have health insurance while the bastards at the top have not only complete and comprehensive health care but lifelong extraordinary pensions above and beyond what they manage to skim off the top of what ever corruption they manage to legislate, how on earth can we expect moral behavior from the populace? And so many of them professed "Christian" men and women. The people of this nation need to take off the blinders and take back this country in the name of justice and democracy. After all, "All men are created equal" are they not??

Immorality of Christianity by G. James Stewart.

This web site discusses some of the points of the book, and if you look for it, there is a free ebook version.
